Mom Always Finds Out: Featured Children’s Books (April 2014)

March 30, 2014 by Nicole 6 Comments

Mom Always Finds Out received copies of this month’s featured childrens books. However, I was under no obligation to feature them on my blog and did not receive any form of compensation. All opinions expressed are my own. This blog post may contain affiliate links.

Several wonderful children’s books are being published this month! Take a look at what we’ve been reading lately, thanks to advance review copies from the publisher. Let me know which books you want to add to your child’s library.

I was happy to be introduced to the Thingy Things series by Chris Rashchka. Raschka has published more than 60 books for children, including Caldecott Medal winners A Ball for Daisy and The Hello, Goodbye Window, by Norman Juster.

My first thoughts when I read the Crabby Crab and Cowy Cow books were about simplicity. The simple, colorful drawings got my 2-year-old’s attention immediately. The simple one- and two sentences-per-page text is perfect for babies and young toddlers ages 2-4 years old. The books are silly and short and each one relays a positive, simple message.

Crabby Crab: We love you just the way you are!
Cowy Cow: Cowy Cow has one hundred ideas…You must be a genius. Cowy Cow!

If you’ve ever had a brother, you will relate to the storyline in Ninja, Ninja, Never Stop by Todd Tuell. Little ninjas sneak, spy, scheme, run, chop, and never STOP! Two imaginative young brothers end up playing as a team. Recommended for ages 2-5 years old.

Snuggle the Baby by Sara Gillingham is a wonderful interactive board book for new siblings or any little one who wants to help take care of a baby. The book includes moving parts and gives instructions for practice on feeding, tickling, diapering and swaddling baby. Our favorite page is the one with the removable board baby that lets us put her to bed under a blanket. Shhh! Sweet Dreams, baby! Recommended for ages 1-4 years old.

Where to Buy:

Find this month’s featured books online at Amazon.com’s Childrens Books.

What are some of your favorite children’s books?

I think that these are great books. My favorite one for a toddler is Crabby Crab, but if there is a new baby would definitely buy Snuggle the Baby.
