Father’s Day gift for the DIY Dad : Create a Starter Tool Set

June 6, 2014 by Nicole 149 Comments

Every dad needs at least one set of tools. When I was growing up, my dad was always tinkering around in the garage, finding any excuse to use his power tools. My husband started a tool collection when we first got married. He has a set of tools he uses to fix things that break around our house, plus another set of tools he keeps in his truck. I’m pretty sure he thinks it is impossible to have too many tools. And dads everywhere would agree.

The Home Depot Father's Day Gifts

The Home Depot partnered with bloggers such as me for their 2014 Father’s Day program. As part of this program, I received compensation for my time. They did not tell me what to purchase or what to say about any product mentioned in these posts. The Home Depot believes that consumers and bloggers are free to form their own opinions and share them in their own words. The Home Depot’s policies align with WOMMA Ethics Code, FTC guidelines and social media engagement recommendations.

The Home Depot is a great place to find everything Dad needs to fill his toolbox. I went shopping at our local store and saw a ton of tools on sale for Father’s Day. So, I thought it would be a fun to create a starter tool bag for the Do-It-Yourself Dad. All it takes is an empty tool bag and a tool to get dad’s collection started. Then add a The Home Depot gift card so dad can shop for what he really wants.

starter tool set for dad

I chose to put a hammer and extra large nail in our starter tool bag because I wanted to attach a cute Father’s Day note from the kids that says: When it comes to being a Great Dad, you NAILED IT!

My husband loves his new tool bag and hammer, and he can use The Home Depot gift card to shop for whatever else he wants to add to his tool bag. See how easy it is to pull together something fun for Dad when you shop at The Home Depot?

Gift Card_Tool Dad Carrier Box

I love the Dad-themed Home Depot gift cards. This one even comes with a gift box. You choose the amount of money that goes onto the gift card ($5 minimum). This year, give dad a gift he really wants with a gift card to The Home Depot.

My hubby is very cold natured and we live in an area that stays pretty chilly for almost six months, so I found this Electric Foot Warmer Mat on Home Depot site. It would be great for hubby when getting ready early on cold mornings. 🙂
