Red White and Blue Jello Parfaits

September 3, 2013 by Nicole 9 Comments

Are you looking for a patriotic dessert that is easy to make? You can whip up a batch of Red White and Blue Jello Parfaits in minutes! This dessert is perfect for 4th of July, Labor Day and Memorial Day celebrations. The best part is that everyone thinks you spent a lot of time creating them, but really…they are ridiculously simple.

Here’s a tip: Switch up the colors to make Jello parfaits for other holidays. Try a red (Cherry) and green (Lime) combo for Christmas. Use red (Strawberry) by itself for Valentine’s Day; and green (Lime) plus yellow (Lemon) for St. Patrick’s Day.

Serves about 8.

What You’ll Need:

  • 1 Large box of red (Cherry) Jello
  • 1 Large Box of blue (Berry) Jello
  • 1 Tub of Cool Whip (white)
  • Clear serving glasses or containers (I used small Mason Jars when I ran out of glasses!)

Directions:

  1. Prepare both packages of Jello according to directions on the Jello box. Once the Jello has set, it’s ready for parfaits!
  2. Create the bottom layer of your parfait by adding spoonfuls of blue Jello into a clear glass.
  3. Create the middle layer of your parfait by adding a layer of Cool Whip.
  4. Create the top layer of your parfait by adding spoonfuls of red Jello on top.
  5. Repeat steps 2-4 to make the rest of your parfaits.

Keep refrigerated until ready to serve. You can prepare these up to a day ahead of time as long as they are stored in a covered container.

It seems so simple and a lot of people just say oh that’s jello ehhh but jello tastes completely different when paired with cool whip. Pairing it with whip cream melts too quickly and tastes gross imo so this is actually a really great – beautifully colored treat.

What a cutie idea, I haven’t made my own Jello in years. It does taste so delicious with cool whip.

What a great idea for a refreshing summer treat! FYI – I found another blue jello when I went to buy the ingredients for this for a Memorial Day barbecue (red, white, and blue is not just for 4th of July!) Royal now has a Disney “Dory”-themed jello, called Ocean Berry Blue, and it’s a deeper blue. I like the Berry Blue kind, too, but this blue is a more traditional blue! Who knows how long it’ll be around, though, but I think it’ll be perfect! And it’d be great mixed with other colors, say, the lighter blue for a Frozen-themed party or even a pool party?

Hi Debbie, thanks for sharing the tip about the new Ocean Berry Blue. I’ll definitely check it out for this year’s red, white and blue treats. Sounds good! And totally cute for Frozen or a Finding Dory party, too. –Nicole
