What does your watch say about you? My 100% natural wood watch says it’s time to make an eco friendly fashion statement. JORD wood watches sent me one of their beautiful timepieces to review. If you know me, you know I love things that are a little bit different from the norm. Every JORD watch is unique because each one is made from various sustainable woods from all over the world. Their selection range from light-colored wood to dark, ebony-toned wood watches and everything in between.
I chose the Ely Series Maple ($129, woodwatches.com) watch for myself. It’s one of the smaller JORD designs with a 26mm diameter scratch-proof glass face. The face of the watch was larger than I expected when I saw it in person. I would not call this a “small” watch face – it’s a perfect size for my wrist, actually. I would say I have an average woman’s wrist size. I was happy the watch face wasn’t too small because I like to be able to easily glance down and check the time. And it’s not so big that it overpowers my wrist. It’s just right.
This is my first experience with a wood watch, and I was surprised by how lightweight it was when I took it out of the packaging. The classic face design is fairly simple. The watch tells time (without numbers) and shows the date. I wear this as an everyday watch, and love how the Ely Series Maple coordinates with any color.
My husband wants a wood watch now, so I have been checking out JORD styles for him. The Limited Edition 746 Series (shown: Black, $249) is a really cool-looking mechanical watch. I like how you can see through to the inside workings of the watch. And even cooler is the fact that this watch doesn’t need a battery! That’s right, this watch can be wound by hand and stays wound with your body’s natural movement.
