Over the holiday break, I wanted to find a fun way to get my kids to spend time reading every day. So, I downloaded the EPIC! reading app to their tablets. This app is free to download at both the App Store and Google Play.
Best Reading Apps For Kids: Epic!
My kids were super happy to see familiar books and characters they love, including Fly Guy, Big Nate, Splat the Cat, LEGO, National Geographic Kids, and honestly way too many for me to keep listing out. I was blown away when I saw that EPIC! is full of REAL books my kids WANT to read.
Epic! Reading App makes reading on a tablet and listening to audio books for kids (ages 2-12 years) easy. Kids get personalized book suggestions based on their interests and reading level. In addition to books and audio books, there are learning videos and quizzes the kids can enjoy.
A couple of Parent features I loved about Epic! right away are: 1) I can add go into the app and assign books to my child’s library collection and 2) I get a weekly email from Epic! detailing my child’s reading progress. It tells me what books my child read, how many pages my child read in each book, how many minutes my child read in each book, and how many videos they watched. I can log in to my Parent profile at any time to check on this, but the automatic email makes it simple for me and I don’t have to remember to do anything.
With EPIC!, we have instant, unlimited access to a library with more than 25,000 children’s book titles available to us. New titles are added every week. I love that the EPIC reading app lets us access kids books online and offline. Offline reading is really nice for when we travel in the car and don’t have Internet access.
I highly recommend the EPIC! app as a way to make reading fun for children ages 2 through 12 years old. Since we downloaded this app, my kids have spent MORE time reading books. It’s been awesome all the way around.

What a cool app! Helping my kids gain a love for reading was one of the most important and fun things I did as a parent for their education. Thanks for sharing and partying at the #HomeMattersParty 🙂

These are fantastic suggestions, thank you! Our 17-month-olds LOVE to “read” – I’m hoping that continues for them!

I think it a great sign that your toddlers are already interested in books! That’s amazing and so wonderful they are getting an early start on reading. –Nicole
