I wanted a neutral white wreath to hang in my kitchen. We’re in between holidays, so I wanted something simple. Well, it doesn’t get much simpler than the way I made this DIY wreath. If you can use a foam paint brush, you can make this wreath. The white washed wreath also makes a pretty base for flowers or other decorations you may want to add on.

How To Whitewash a Grapevine Wreath

Materials Needed:

  • Grapevine Wreath (any size)
  • White Chalk Paint
  • Small Bowl or Cup (to mix paint)
  • Foam Brush
  • Paper Towels

Directions:

  1. In a small bowl, mix a tablespoon of chalk paint with an equal amount of water.
  2. Dip the foam brush into the watered down chalk paint. Begin painting your grapevine wreath in small sections by applying paint to the wreath with the foam brush. Use a paper towel to gently wipe off excess paint to get the level of white wash you want.Whitewash Grapevine Wreath DIY Tutorial
    PAINTING TIPS:
*Be sure to wipe off the paint immediately after applying it to the wreath so it doesn’t have the chance to dry.
*Get in to paint hard-to-reach places by sticking the foam part of the brush in between the grapevine wreath’s branches.
  3. Allow the paint to dry completely. Once the wreath is dry, it is ready to hang or add embellishments (flowers, etc.)
