Teacher Gift Idea with BIC Mark-it® Permanent Markers #MistyBlue #BICMerryMarking

December 12, 2014 by Nicole 9 Comments

This post brought to you by BIC®. The content and opinions expressed below are that of Mom Always Finds Out.

The holidays are a nice time to give our teachers a token of appreciation. I know I appreciate the time my children’s teachers have spent in the classroom with them so far this school year. The teacher gift idea I’m showing you today was inspired by BIC’s Month of Merry Marking booklet. Be sure to get the booklet of merry marking and a coupon to start marking.

An umbrella is a useful item for everyone. Find an umbrella in your teacher’s favorite color or even your school’s color to gift along with this simple poem of appreciation. And by poem, I mean the slight variation on the USPS mail carrier’s unofficial motto. I thought I was being pretty clever to change up that little rhyme to fit my teacher’s umbrella gift.

I used a “Misty Blue” BIC Mark-it® permanent marker to draw the outline of an umbrella on a piece of white card stock. I wrote the poem on the umbrella (because a handwritten card adds a nice personal touch) and cut it out.

Once the umbrella was cut out, I used a hole punch to make a hole at the top of the umbrella. I threaded a piece of thin ribbon through the hole and used it to tie the umbrella-shaped poem card to an umbrella.

The whole process takes only a few minutes from start to finish. You’ll end up with a practical teacher gift idea that lets them know you think they are the best at what they do. And hopefully it will keep them from getting drenched on a rainy day, too.

Let me know: What is YOUR favorite project featured in the BIC Merry Marking booklet? Have you made it yet?

Thanks for the link to the Bic Mark-It page. Some great ideas there. I love your umbrella with its handmade tag and poem. The gift bags decorated with the silver ink look so pretty–I think I’ll keep an eye out for the silver pen and see if I can make my own hand-decorated bags and tags.

Hi Anne! I have the BIC Mark-It metallic ones and they are perfect for signing holiday cards, gift bags, etc. They come in a pack of 8 different metallic colors (not sure if they are sold individually but maybe they are. Love them!! I’m glad you like the umbrella idea, thank you for letting me know.
