Valentine’s Day Kids Craft: Heart-Shaped Pencil Toppers

February 4, 2016 by Nicole 7 Comments

valentine's day kids craft

This Valentine’s Day kids craft is a fun way to decorate your pencils. My kids are helping me make these heart-shaped pencil toppers and put them on pencils to give to their friends on V-day. We found our Valentine-themed pencils at the dollar store, but any pencil will work. You can also use any color pipe cleaners, but I love using the sparkly glitter chenille stems.

What You’ll Need:

  • Pencils
  • Pipe Cleaners (one per pencil)
  • Hot Glue Gun

Directions:

  1. Shape a pipe cleaner into a heart. Leave about an inch of pipe cleaner at the bottom of your heart to wrap around the top of your pencil.
  2. Wrap the end of your heart-shaped pipe cleaner around the top of your pencil. Two or three times is good.
  3. Use a hot glue gun and secure the pipe cleaner to the pencil with a dot of hot glue.

See how easy that was? It won’t take long to make a bunch to give out to all your Valentines!

See how easy it is to make some of our favorite Valentine’s Day treats — sugar cookies with M&Ms!

These would have been great for my kids when they were in elementary school! I used to make myself crazy making stuff for Valentine’s Day to hand out to their classes. Oh well, hopefully it helped a lot of people. My kids are way to old now! God bless and thank you!
