My kids were the first to discover Cartoon Network’s latest hit show, Almost Naked Animals. I remember hearing the theme song (*be warned that it’s a catchy tune and you will find yourself singing it for no apparent reason throughout the day) and asking my son, Why are they called “almost naked” animals? He pointed out that first of all, It’s OKAY for animals to be naked, Mom (like DUH!) and then showed me that the animal characters in the cartoon all wear underwear…hence their “almost” nakedness. That fact alone was ironic and funny enough for me to start watching the show with them. And keep watching!
What is Almost Naked Animals all about? Well, in a nutshell:
Almost Naked Animals is a joyously irreverent animated comedy series, based on the quirky designs of Noah Z. Jones (creator of Fish Hooks) featuring a lovable assortment of free-spirited animals (who happen to be in their underwear). Led by Howie, the animals run a beach-front hotel, the Banana Cabana – doing their best to make each day more fun that the last.
Almost Naked Animals is Cartoon Network’s top rated show for kids 6-11 years old. The Volume One DVD will be available on September 25. Watch the show every weekday exclusively on Cartoon Network and YTV.

Of course, my kids were thrilled to get the Almost Naked Animals Volume 1 DVD (and felt totally special to get it way before the store’s release date), but we got so much other awesome stuff, too. So about the practical jokes…the ANA Welcome Kit included some other fun stuff to help us make our house into a practical jokey type of place kind of like the Banana Cabana. There was a fake bug inside of a fake ice cube and a Whoopie Cushion. Oh.My.Goodness. You’d think that sitting on the Whoopie Cushion and making the funny sounds would get old after 10, 20, 30 times – but no, my boys thought it was the most hilarious thing they had ever played with and literally laughed for an hour straight playing with this thing. Every time was just as funny as the first.
We totally enjoy our time watching the Almost Naked Animals on DVD and can’t wait for the new season to start!
