Avocados From Mexico wants everyone to know that avocados aren’t just for adults anymore.  Kids love the great taste of avocado and enjoy a food that is good for them, too!  Avocados are packed with nutrients kids need, including potassium, fiber, folate, Vitamin C, E, and B-complex vitamins that support healthy brain function.

Does your little chef like to create avocado dishes?  The Avocados From Mexico Mini Chef Video Contest is looking for parents of children ages 5-15 to enter their video contest and win a Grand Prize of $1,000 cash, HD Camcorder, Nintendo 3D, and a personalized mini chef jacket!  The NINE Runners-up win big too – they get an HD Camcorder, Nintendo 3D and a personalized mini chef jacket.

Enter the contest by submitting a 1-3 minute video of your child preparing a kid-friendly avocado recipe and be sure to include why they love avocados and the catchy Avocados From Mexico jingle on their website. Hurry, though!  Submissions must be received by December 4.  Videos will be judged on mini chef’s personality and presence of avocado.  Ten finalists will be selected for public voting, which takes place on YouTube December 6-11.  Winners will be announced December 12.

My children love to eat avocados.  Our favorite way to eat them is in guacamole with tortilla chips.  It’s a great snack that is easy to prepare.  A simple guacamole recipe my kids can help make calls for just a few ingredients..

Easy Guacamole

  • 4 Ripe Avocados (peeled and pitted)
  • 3 Tablespoons of Lemon Juice
  • Hot Sauce (to taste – about 6 dashes)
  • 1 Tablespoon diced Garlic
  • 1 small Red Onion (diced)
  • 1 Tomato (seeded and diced)
  • 1 Teaspoon of Kosher Salt

Slice avocados into small dices.  Put all of the ingredients in a bowl and stir until well mixed.  Serve with tortilla chips.

I have to help out with the slicing and dicing, but kids can easily mix up the prepared ingredients.  Here are my little chefs helping stir up some of our favorite guacamole!
