Although October is National Eczema Awareness month, eczema is a year-round problem. A couple of years ago, my infant son suffered from severe eczema, so I can relate to other parents who try every possible lotion, ointment, salve, and balm in hopes of finding one that will clear up their baby’s skin. We didn’t know about Exederm Hydrating Baby Lotion back then, but I’m sure we would have tried it if we had heard of it.
Exederm’s philosophy is to avoid irritants that trigger eczema…always use the mildest ingredients possible.
This gentle, non-irritating and ultra hypoallergenic lotion is specifically designed to moisturize your child’s dry and highly sensitive or delicate skin. That’s why there is a long list of irritating ingredients commonly found in other baby lotions that you will NOT find in Exederm:
No Fragrance
No Color or Dyes
No Parabens
No Lanolin
No SLS or SLES
No Propylene Glycol
No Formaldehyde
No Phthalates
And yes, that does say Formaldehyde – isn’t it scary to think some baby lotions have that on their ingredients list? If you are dealing with eczema, it is a good idea to avoid all of the above ingredients. Any one of them could be triggering the eczema breakout.
Thankfully, I am not currently dealing with any eczema problems, but my children do have dry skin all year long. I have used the Exederm on my children and myself, and thought this lotion did a great job providing moisture that lasted for several hours. It has a nice consistency, not too thick and pasty like some eczema creams. I thought it was easy to spread on our skin and absorbed quickly. I can’t say from personal experience how Exederm works against eczema, but I do know that it works well for dry skin.
Note: Exederm Hydrating Lotion contains petrolatum and sodium benzoate. If you are looking for a lotion that does not contain these ingredients, this formula is not for you.
