Kids Can Give Back with Club Penguin’s Coin For Change Now Through January 2

December 26, 2012 by Nicole

Kids can give back this holiday season when they participate in the 6th Annual Club Penguin Coins For Change even running December 20 to January 2, 2013. You do not have to be a paid member of Club Penguin to play. Players earn virtual coins playing online games, which they can then donate to the real-world charities of their choice. This year, Club Penguin is hosting the biggest online bake sale ever with players baking virtual cookies and then buying them to determine where Club Penguin will donate its annual $1 MILLION DOLLARS!

My children have had fun during this year’s Coins For Change event. They get rewarded for buying the virtual bake sale cookies when their penguin is transformed into new holiday characters for a limited time. All players can turn into toy cars, and members can transform into reindeer puffles and “frostbites,” which allow them to temporarily freeze in-world items. I think it is a wonderful way for kids to get involved in contributing to real world causes.

“Over the past six years, Coins for Change has inspired our players to take action and make a difference in the lives of millions of kids and families all over the world,” said Chris Heatherly, head of Club Penguin. “We hope this year’s Coins for Change virtual bake sale empowers our players to start similar programs and make a positive difference in their local communities.”

Through programs like Coins for Change, Club Penguin has given a total of $9M USD to charities all over the world, and will cross the $10M USD donation mark later this year, further raising social consciousness among the more than 175 million players who take part in the online community. In last year’s Coins for Change event, kids donated over 10 billion coins to help make the world a better place. As a result of these generous in-world contributions kids have made to Coins for Change, Club Penguin has already helped an excess of one million people in more than 42 countries.

Join in the fun! Club Penguin’s Holiday Party and Coins For Change is going on right now! Are you ready to waddle around and meet friends? Play Club Penguin today.
