TIME For Kids: Kids in the Kitchen Cookbook Review

August 1, 2013 by Nicole

Mom Always Finds Out received a free review copy of Time For Kids: Kids in the Kitchen Cookbook. All opinions expressed are my own.  This blog post may contain affiliate links.

My kids love to be helpers in the kitchen. My older kids are even able to make their own peanut butter and jelly sandwiches. Amazing, right? Well, it’s time to expand their culinary skills, and the new TIME For Kids: Kids in the Kitchen Cookbook is going to help us do that.

Time For Kids in the Kitchen Cookbook

This cookbook contains 80 fun recipes for kids that are easy to make. They can follow along with step-by-step instructions and 100 color photos. I taught my son how to plan an entire day’s menu using one breakfast, lunch, dinner and snack recipe. I got him the ingredients he needed and he had a great time figuring out how to make meals for our family.

I really like that the kid-approved recipes in this book focus on real, healthy food ingredients. Kids will use a variety of fruits and/or veggies to make just about every single dish. So far, my kids have learned to make Sloppy Joe Sliders, Roasted Sweet Potato Fries, Wrapped Tight Turkey Bites, Chocolate Chip Cookies and Bacon and Egg Breakfast Pizzas.

This kid-friendly cookbook is designed for children ages 8 and up. Of course, I did need to help out with certain parts of the cooking process like when recipes call for using a hot stove or oven. And that was all part of the fun! Cooking is a useful life skill and can be an enjoyable family activity.

Kids in the Kitchen Cookbook includes helpful extras like kitchen safety tips and a lesson on how to shop for healthy foods. It teaches kids to make smart choices at the grocery store. There is also a section with suggestions for your young chef’s “toolbox.” I really like that it is a hard cover cookbook with an inner spiral binding, so the book opens flat.

This is a great kids’ starter cookbook. It is perfect for kids who want to learn basic cooking skills. Plus, I think my kids eat what THEY cook better than they eat what I cook. The healthy recipes in this book make it a win-win situation.
