My three LEGO builders couldn’t wait to get started on the LEGO City Coast Guard Headquarters set. They quickly divvied up the LEGO instruction booklets and pieces so that each one of them had a piece of the Coast Guard set to build.

I couldn’t believe how they built, and built, and built for nearly three hours straight! We haven’t ever had such a big LEGO set to build, and the boys proved they were up to the challenge. The huge Coast Guard ship is an impressive build! My 9-year-old did it all by himself. He had a dramatic finish for the camera, that’s him pictured below, lying on the ground next to the completed boat.

My youngest son (im)patiently waited for his brother to build the Coast Guard helicopter for him. He has barely put it down ever since. We took the entire Coast Guard Headquarters outside and set it up on the sidewalk. Our sidewalk chalk ocean gives them a fun backdrop for their LEGO Coast Guard adventures and rescue missions.

The LEGO City Coast Guard Headquarters set is a great value. My boys can’t get enough of the boats (the boats actually FLOAT in water, too!) Between the boats, the helicopter and helipad and the rest, kids have everything they need for hours of building and imaginative play. We also like how the set comes with seven minifigures. You can never have too many LEGO minifigs!
