You can tell that it is summertime in Alaska when there are more RVs than cars on the highways. I’m serious. They line the highways day and night for at least 2-3 months around here.
Whenever I see these homes on wheels filling up with gas at the gas station, I want to cringe. I can’t imagine how much it costs to fill up a huge RV tank with the high cost of gas these days. But I’m guessing it rivals my house payment!
When you’re traveling the Alaska Highway, you definitely don’t want to break down. Thankfully there is a roadside assistance plan available for those who have RVs.
Summer may be winding down a bit early as we head into August. I have noticed a slight decline in RV numbers already. It’s not very scientific, but the RV counting method is a fairly accurate indicator for the summer season.
