Safe Swaddling Tips + Pottery Barn SleepSack Swaddle

September 19, 2013 by Nicole

Mom Always Finds Out received a Pottery Barn HALO SleepSack swaddle for review purposes. All opinions expressed are my own.

My babies spent their entire first year and beyond sleeping in HALO SleepSacks. I felt like they were they safest way to put my baby to sleep. SleepSacks are wearable blankets that make sure baby stays warm without having a crib full of blankets. They are the #1 choice of hospitals nurseries and parents nationwide.

Baby Sleep Safety

September is Baby Safety Month and HALO SleepSack is helping to raise awareness about Infant Hip Dysplasia and swaddling. To reduce the risk of hip dyspasia, parents should swaddle babies so that baby’s hips are  free to move and not tightly strapped with the legs straight out and together. Let the baby hold his or her hips bent up like they were when the baby was born and allow room for the legs to move freely. Watch this brief video about Infant Hip Dysplasia and Safe Swaddling from one of the nation’s lead proponents of swaddling, Harvey Karp, M.D.

The International Hip Dysplasia Institute recognizes the HALO® SleepSack® wearable blanket and SleepSack® Swaddle as “Hip Healthy” for its generous sack design.

Pottery Barn Halo SleepSack Swaddle

The Pottery Barn SleepSack Swaddle is made from pure organic cotton or snuggly chamois. Only the best goes next to baby’s sensitive skin! Plus, Pottery Barn’s line of HALO SleepSacks coordinate with their bedding. You can also have the SleepSack embroidered with baby’s name.

We received the Pottery Barn SleepSack Swaddle in the Yellow color option. The yellow and gray medallion pattern looks nice for a girl or a boy. SleepSack Swaddles are a safe choice to replace loose blankets in the crib. Simply put the SleepSack Swaddle on the baby over their regular sleepwear. The inverted zipper makes it easy to get baby in and out, or just to open up briefly for quick diaper changes. Available in two sizes: Newborn (0-3 months) and Small (3-6 months).

Pottery Barn SleepSack Swaddles are one of my favorite go-to baby shower gifts. Not only do they make it easy for new parents to correctly swaddle their babies, the Pottery Barn prints are so chic everyone always loves them. The embroidery option makes this an even more personalized gift. I love how touchably soft the material feels because I love to snuggle babies while they are wrapped in their blankets. Baby will definitely be comfortable wearing a SleepSack Swaddle.

New moms, be sure to add Pottery Barn SleepSack Swaddles to your Baby Registry.

I am always concerned that our babies were warm enough in our Wisconsin winters. I would feel confident that they were in HALO® SleepSack® for Pottery Barn Kids. And not only warm, but cute too. Their sleep sacks are darling.
