Technique Lightweight Cast Iron Everyday Pan Review

May 13, 2013 by Nicole

teflon national egg month

May is National Egg Month, and Teflon Brand is making things exciting! I was sent a Technique Lightweight Cast Iron Everyday Pan with nonstick coating for my review. If you have ever tried to scramble eggs on a cast iron pan, you know things can get ugly really fast. I think eggs are a cast iron pan’s arch nemesis, and can make it nearly impossible to clean the pan. The nonstick coating on the Technique Cast Iron Everyday Pan makes cooking eggs on cast iron a breeze. No sticking, burning, or messy clean ups.

#TeflonEggMonth Technique Everyday Pan

I was really excited to open up the box and find a beautiful red Technique 3 quart, 11″ lightweight cast iron everyday pan. I love the color red in my kitchen, and I love to cook with cast iron because of how evenly it heats to cook our food.

One thing I noticed right away when I picked up this pan is how lightweight it really is. I own a couple of other cast iron pans that are super heavy compared to the Technique Lightweight Cast Iron Open Everyday Pan.

Technique Lightweight Cast Iron

We have cooked with it several times – and even tested its nonstick ability by scrambling eggs and making French Toast without putting in any butter or spray on the pan first. The eggs did not stick to the pan! I was really impressed because I have never had a nonstick pan actually live up to its name. This is the perfect size pan to use for preparing just about anything for my family. It can go from the stovetop to the oven (to bake casseroles, etc.).

It’s a very versatile dish that I know will get tons of use. It may as well just sit out on my stove to save me the trouble of finding it every time I need to use it. Good thing this pan is definitely pretty enough to do that!

The Technique is coated with DuPont™ Teflon® Scratchguard Ultra, so it is safe to use with metal utensils. I use only wooden or silicone utensils, so even though I didn’t get to test it with metal ones, I thought I would pass on that cool feature to you.

Red Cast Iron Pan

The pan is very easy to clean because nothing ever sticks to it! And although I LOVE that this pan is dishwasher safe, I found that after a couple runs through my dishwasher, the pan’s red finish was showing signs of wear. I’ll be handwashing it from now on.

If you prefer a color other than red, the Technique pan also comes in black and a beautiful blue color.

The reason I want the Technique lightweight pan is because I have terrible rhumatoid arthritis and I like that the pan has two handles to help lift it and that it is lightweight so it will help me out while cooking. I have bought a lot of different items including cookware items from QVC and have had no complaints on quality. My kitchen items are all red so I would go with the red pan if I win. Fingers crossed desperately hoping that I win!
