truRoots Organic Sprouted Foods (Review & Cranberry Pecan Sprouted Quinoa Recipe)

October 31, 2011 by Nicole

Sponsor Spotlight!  truRoots is sponsoring a giveaway prize package you can enter to win at my blog as part of CouponCabin’s 25 Crazy Dayz of Giveawayz November 1-25.

Sprouted foods contain significantly more nutrients than their counterparts, dried seeds, grains and beans.  They also contain less calories and carbohydrates.  truRoots offers a variety of shelf stable organic sprouted products, including a new line of products called truRoots Accents Sprouted Grain Trios.  I recently received the Sprouted Quinoa Trio, Sprouted Lentil Trio, and Sprouted Rice Trio for review.

The first thing I noticed with each of the trios was the variety of colors in each package.  The quinoa was a mix of red, black and white.   Before truRoots, I had only ever seen quinoa in one color (white).  The different colors look really nice in quinoa dishes and I thought they tasted really good, too.  This product was named a 2011 sofi™ Silver Award winner in the new products category at this year’s Fancy Food Show in Washington, D.C.

My favorite was the Organic Rice Trio – the colors, textures, and delicious nutty tastes in this trio a side dish that I never get tired of eating.  The germinated red rice, germinated brown rice, and quick-cooking white rice are all super healthy, too.

The blend of organic black, brown, and green petite lentils in the Sprouted Lentil Trio can be used in soup and salad recipes.

I am not a gourmet chef by any means. I’m just a regular mom who cooks to feed her family.  The truRoots trios are easy to cook (yes, I can boil water, which is pretty much the main requirement) and use in my family’s meals along with our regular foods.

We eat rice and beans quite often and quinoa on occasion.  I have found the truRoots Sprouted Food Trios to be the kind of food that I can incorporate into my family’s menu without them realizing I am feeding them a more nutritious version of our usual foods.  That is a really good thing at my house!  I definitely recommend truRoots Accents Sprouted Grain Trios.

There are many simple and delicious recipes HERE on the truRoots website to inspire healthy cooking.  The truRoots products provide easily digestible nutrients and a great taste. They are gluten-free, organic, vegan and vegetarian.

My family tried this truRoots quinoa recipe and really liked it.  It combines a nice mix of sweet and nutty flavors that even my children loved.
