Do you get an annual flu shot? A couple of years ago, our entire family got the flu shot for the first time because I was pregnant and our new baby would be born during flu season. The flu can be especially dangerous for pregnant women, babies and young children. My husband and I felt that it was in our best interest to get the immunizations. I’m happy to report that everyone in my family stayed healthy that year. People around us at school and work were getting the flu left and right. Thankfully, we never got sick.
My children’s pediatrician recently recommended we all get vaccinated again for this coming flu season. I dread the thought of getting a shot – any shot – almost as much as my children. Of course, I can’t let them know that. I had to act really brave when we went into our local Walgreens pharmacy to learn more about how to get a flu shot at Walgreens.
I must admit I was really surprised to go in and find out that my Walgreens did not have on-site vaccinations. There are so many signs advertising Get Your “Flu Shot,” “Shingles Shot,” posted outside of the store. I assumed I could go in and get my flu shot taken care of right there on the spot. Does your Walgreens offer immunization services? You can easily check online at Walgreens.com and find out. You can even schedule your Walgreens flu shot right on their website.
It’s really easy to get your flu shot at a Walgreens. There is no appointment necessary, most insurance is accepted and you will even earn 500 Walgreens points! Once I got into the store and visited the pharmacy counters in the back, I saw the big sign telling me the nearest Walgreens to visit for shots. My 9-year-old son was a little disappointed he didn’t get to see mom get a shot that day! But we did find and pick up the Walgreens September Savings Book for coupons and to learn more about Walgreens Shot at Life program.
The Walgreens Get a Shot Give a Shot program is going on now through October 14. If you are considering getting a flu shot this year, please visit Walgreens to do it for a good cause! Walgreens is working with the United Nations Shot@Life Campaign. All you have to do is go in and get a flu shot and they will give a life-saving vaccine to a child in need. They plan to supply up to 3 MILLION vaccines against diseases like measles and polio.
By joining this effort, you are helping to save the life of a child every 20 seconds! Protect children in developing countries against preventable diseases. These kids need us. Their lives literally depend on it.
