My Kids Tell All: Favorite Junk Foods, Favorite Healthy Snacks

I think my house has a pretty good balance of healthy foods and, to put it delicately, not-so-healthy foods. My family has done a pretty good job lately keeping the junk food consumption to a minimum. If I don’t buy it, nobody misses it. But we do enjoy a junk food treat every now and then, especially on special holidays and occasions. Do you know your child’s favorite junk food? What about their favorite healthy snacks? I know what I like to buy for them, but I was curious about what my kids would say about their favorites. I decided to ask my oldest three boys (ages 4, 6 and 10) what foods they like best. kids favorite junk foods kids favorite healthy snacks Now that I know what nutritious foods they REALLY like, I’ll have to be sure we have them in the house. I would like to think that my kids would always pick the good stuff over the junk food. That may be true some of the time, but not all of the time. I actually don’t have any problems with letting my kids indulge in a junk food every now and then. I enjoy sweets and treats, too! Motts portable applesauce It is important for me to try to keep healthy snack options on hand all the time. I use them every day in school lunches and for our snacks in between meals. I make it easy for the kids to pick nutritious snacks by putting the good stuff (like Mott’s Snack & Go flavored applesauce pouches) on a shelf at kids eye level and within their reach. I don’t mind if my children go in our pantry and grab a good snack when they are hungry. motts applesauce healthy snacks If I do have things like cookies or chips in the house, I hide them. I like to put junk food up on the highest shelves, preferably out of view. Out of sight, out of mind, right? My kids love to climb and are pretty good at balancing on stools to reach what they want. I have also gotten pretty good at packing our traveling snack bag. Anytime we are going on a road trip, even just a short one, we need snacks! Bring along healthy options like cut up fruits and veggies, cheese sticks and crackers so we don’t have to stop for food at a convenience store or a drive through fast food restaurant.

Anything unhealthy would fit the description of my kids favorite snack food. “Healthy” is a word my oldest avoids at all costs! However, my youngest will eat just about anything and loves seaweed sheets as a snack! Who needs to make them into sushi? They disapear too fast!

It can be so tough to get my kids to eat a healthy snack. They do love Motts though!

My kids have the same favorite snacks! I try to push the healthy ones a lot more often obviously. We always have to have these applesauce packets on hand; because it’s the favorite thing to grab right after school.

(My Kids Tell All: Favorite Junk Foods, Favorite Healthy Snacks) I imagine that the kid’s do like to eat junk food a lot. And it’s also good when they want to eat healthier snacks as well. My grandson likes eating fruit and his little finger foods, he’s a very good eater.
