Full Circle Farm Review – organic produce

January 10, 2011 by Nicole

A couple months ago, my husband surprised me with a subscription to Full Circle Farm. They are a family farm in Washington that has expanded into a network of providers of healthy, delicious, organic foods to communities in Washington and Alaska.

I live in Alaska, where fresh produce is like gold – literally. As in, it is valuable and scarce! Most of our fruits and veggies spend who knows how much time being transported, so even though I pay a high price at the grocery store, most of what I buy is about to go bad if it isn’t used within a day or two. Sad, I know.

Thanks to Full Circle Farm, I can now eat fresh, organic fruits and vegetables that actually ship quickly to my community pick up site, where they remain fresh for me for days, even weeks, longer than anything I could buy in my grocery store.

I love their personalized service. It is so easy for me to log in each week and see what goodies are listed in that week’s order. The best part is that if I see something I don’t want on my list, I can choose a substitute item. I always get a box full of things my family wants to eat and nothing we don’t.

Since we have been a part of the delivery service, we have had the chance to try several varieties of apples, pears, oranges, squash, potatoes, yams, onions, mushrooms, avocados, broccoli, carrots, turnips, and greens. There are still so many things I look forward to trying as the seasons change and different fruits and vegetables become available. Just thinking about all the berries I’m going to get next summer makes my mouth water!

Full Circle Farm also has artisan cheese, meats, eggs, breads, and more — all provided by their Network of growers and producers who are dedicated to sustainable practices. I have not yet tried anything beyond their organic produce, but I am sure that one day soon, my order will expand to their other items.

I love a family oriented company that shares my similar values when it comes to food. I highly recommend Full Circle Farm to anyone in a Washington or Alaska service area.

FULL CIRCLE organic foods are one of my number 1 choices. Their prices are reasonable and their organic foods are superb!

I realize that choices for fresh produce are hard in Alaska, and that fresh produce is better than no produce, but FYI: Full Circle is a brand of Topco, formerly Food Club, not “small local farmers”. The board of directors is comprised of members of supermarket chains: http://www.topco.com/AboutUs/GovernanceManagement.aspx

Their organic standards are buyer-beware: http://www.cornucopia.org/organic-egg-scorecard/egg_profiles/FarmID_64.html

The Topco/Food Club line of products called Full Circle are not associated with Full Circle Farms in Carnation, WA. Full Circle is a Salmon-Safe certified organic farm that promotes sustainable farming practices that preserve the soil and protect the environment.
