A few years ago, my mother sent ME a Mother’s Day card with these beautiful words that have now become my one of my favorite Mother’s Day quotes. I think they perfectly express the love of a mother and the way she feels about any sacrifices she has ever made for her children.
The words of Anne Campbell, who wrote as she looked upon her children:
You are the trip I did not take;
You are the pearls I cannot buy;
You are my blue Italian lake;
You are my piece of foreign sky.
(“To My Child,” quoted in Charles L. Wallis, ed., The Treasure Chest [1965], 54)
I hope every mother out there enjoys a special day Mother’s Day today. I’m grateful to be a mother to three beautiful boys that I love more than anything. And I’m especially thankful to my own mother, for always being the mother I can only hope to become. Words can’t express how blessed I have been throughout my life because she is my mom. I know without a doubt that I am the trip she didn’t take, the pearls she couldn’t buy, her blue Italian lake, and piece of foreign sky…and that she would not want it any other way.
Happy Mother’s Day to all you Mommies out there! Do you have any favorite Mother’s Day quotes or stories to share? Please leave them in the comments for us to enjoy.

my most memorable mothers day is when you sacrificed your mothers day to save me and april from our crazy jobs. We will forever love and appreciate you for that
