Throw Your Hair a Life Preserver! Salt Water and Chlorine Call For Clarifying Shampoo

July 9, 2013 by Nicole

Mom Always Finds Out received the Ouidad products mentioned in this blog post for free for review purposes. Regardless, all opinions expressed are my own, based on my personal experiences.

summer beauty tips

I love the long, hot days of summer! I have been logging in many hours at the pool with the kids. I’m finding out that all this summer fun in the sun is great for everyone, except my hair. Harmful rays from the sun, salt water and chlorine wreak havoc on tresses. Fortunately, Ouidad’s Water Works Clarifying Shampoo and Curl Recovery Ultra Nourishing Cleansing Oil can cleanse and protect my strands.

Anytime you swim, your hair is exposed to the harmful effects of salt and/or chlorine water. It is important to use a clarifying shampoo to remove the salt, chlorine and hard water residues that can cause hair to become dry and brittle. Ouidad Water Works Clarifying Shampoo uses a special blend of lemon, grapefruit and orange flower extracts, and vitamins to clean your hair without stripping it.

I use the Water Works Clarifying Shampoo ($16, 8.5 oz) after swimming and on a regular basis (at least once per week) to remove the minerals left behind from our hard water. My hair always feels soft and silky after washing with Ouidad. I can tell it is much more manageable now that I use a gentle clarifying shampoo. I have color-treated hair, and this formula works great.

My children and husband have also been using “my” Water Works shampoo! Even though it can sometimes be hard for this mommy to share her special beauty treats, I know their hair needs extra TLC after swimming, too. The kids especially love how good this shampoo smells.

The Curl Recovery Ultra Nourishing Cleansing Oil ($25, 8.5 oz) is a wonderful shampoo recommended for curly hair, but I have found it works wonders to nourish my dry, damaged locks (that are not-quite-straight with a tendency to go frizzy). This foaming, water-activated cleanser with an advanced oil base gently removes dirt and build-up while restoring essential moisture. Plus, it uses a special CR 4 Repair Complex – a combination of 4 ingredients: Mafura Butter, Kalihari Melon Oil, Daikon Radish Oil and Meadowfoam Seed Oil that envelopes the hair shaft with concentrated fatty acids that rebuild, nourish and protect.

I use the Curl Recovery Ultra Nourishing Cleansing Oil on the days I don’t use the Water Works Clarifying Shampoo. This super nourishing formula is sulfate-free and paraben-free.

Both of these products leave a faint, lovely scent on my clean hair, and leave my hair shiny and easy to style. Add Ouidad Water Works Clarifying Shampoo and Curl Recovery Ultra Nourishing Cleansing Oil to your hair care routine and repair your summer-stressed tresses. Your lovely locks will thank you!

Sounds like a great product for anyone that swims or is in the sun a lot. I have only been to the pool once since it opened.

Messing up my hair while swimming is always a concern! The sun is a killer and so is the chlorine.

I definitely need something that will destress my tresses. I have sun damaged hair and this sounds like it would help me.

I definitely need this after the swimming we’ve done this summer. I’m afraid that my hair will revolt and turn green like it did when I was a kid!
