The Boba Baby Carrier has many new and improved features to give active parents a ton of babywearing options. This soft-structured carrier can be used with infants 7 to 45 pounds – no special newborn insert or accessories are necessary. The instruction booklet shows you the infant conversion option. (Note: My toddler is too big for us to test that feature.) I think it’s awesome that the Boba Baby Carrier is so versatile that it offers special foot straps for older babies to rest comfortably. They have really thought of everything with the new Boba carrier design!
I wanted the Boba Baby Carrier for one purpose and one purpose only: to allow me a way to safely and comfortably carry my one-year-old on my back. I am happy to report that the Boba Baby Carrier met and exceeded my expectations. I could not be happier with it and have even been singing its praises lately to both of my currently pregnant sisters. It’s true, I have spent many hours texting, emailing and talking on the phone helping them figure out their best babywearing options and Boba is at the top of the list.
Since I have only used the Boba Baby Carrier to carry my toddler on my back, that is what I will focus my thoughts on for this review. Babywearing is definitely a 2 person commitment – and I’m talking about the commitment between you and your baby. If the baby isn’t happy in a carrier, neither are you. I knew it was really important to me to find a baby carrier that allowed my son to ride in a position that he enjoyed and was comfortable for us both. Now that he is older, he no longer wants to be worn in front of me. He also did not want to be worn facing me because he loves to face out so he can feel involved in everything we do. Honestly, I didn’t want to wear him on the front anymore because he was growing longer and heavier, making things feel awkward. I felt that wearing him on my back was our best and only option.
Boba Baby Carriers fit exactly what I was looking for as far as features, benefits and even the look (they have great colors and design patterns). Here are some of my favorite features from the long list:
- 100% Cotton
- Front and back carry options
- Removable sleeping hood
- Adjustable sleeping hood, adjusting in length to fit growing babies
- Zipper pouch may be used to store your hood when not in use
- Comfortably fits heights 5’0” – 6’3”
- Waistband range: 25” – 58”
- Easily adjustable chest strap
- Uniquely designed to “hug” your child
- Converts to an infant carrier without an insert
- Body of carrier rises 2-3” higher than other brands
- Multiple pockets for on-the-go storage
- High quality military grade buckles
Babywearing on my back was a brand new experience for me, but I loved it from the get-go. We practiced a few times to be sure I could get him on my back and strapped in all by myself. It isn’t hard to become a pro at doing it. My son is now loving life being carried around by his mommy and he can look around and see everything around us just as much as he wants. He never complains or tries to escape. In fact, I think he loves the attention he gets when we are out and about and he can wave and smile at everyone.
I love that he is on my back and my hands are free! I can do daily tasks like sweeping, taking care of my other kids and basically all the day to day things moms have to do. My life is much easier wearing him on my back than trying to carry him around on my hip or worse, leaving him to crawl around at my feet (trying to climb my leg).
I take the Boba Baby Carrier with us everywhere we go. I can wear him grocery shopping, inside my kids’ school, on camping trips, hikes, and even just around the house and yard. You wouldn’t believe the amount of compliments and questions we get asked about our baby carrier. And yes, I highly recommend the Boba Baby Carrier to every parent I meet!
Beginning and advanced babywearers may also want to check out the Boba Wrap. It’s a no buckles, no straps option that’s easy to use for infants up to 18 months.
