My sister is an elementary school teacher, so I started saving Box Tops for her school several years ago. Once my oldest child started Kindergarten, I began collecting Box Tops for his school. Clipping Box Tops quickly becomes one of those things parents can do without even really having to think about it. I learn to watch for products that have Box Tops on them, so I can buy the brands that give back to education.
I have an ongoing Box Tops collection baggie in my kitchen drawer. We turn them in at our school twice a year. Our school mails them in to Box Tops For Education and gets a big fat check in return!
Helpful Tips: Collecting Box Tops 4 Education
1. Buy products that participate in the Box Tops.
There are hundreds of products with Box Tops on them. Visit boxtops4education.com for a complete list. A few of the things I buy regularly for my family include: Big G Cereals (Cheerios, Chex, Reese’s Puffs), Ziploc storage bags and containers, snacks (Nature Valley and Fiber One bars, and Yoplait yogurt.
2. Take advantage of Bonus Box Tops.
Look for specially marked packages at Walmart. Buy one Box Top product and get an additional 5 bonus Box Tops!
3. Ask friends, family and neighbors to clip their Box Tops.
Tell everyone you know how easy it is to help support schools by clipping Box Tops so they can start collecting, too. Our grandparents give us lots of Box Tops to turn in to our school every year.
4. Get into a habit of clipping Box Tops.
I have found that clipping my Box Tops right before I throw away or recycle an empty package works best for me. I know others who clip their Box Tops right when they get home from the store. What works best for you?
5. Designate a safe spot for your Box Tops collection.
I use a Ziploc baggie to store all our Box Tops in one place. This helps me keep our Box Tops from getting lost or accidentally thrown away.
6. Help your school have a contest to see who can collect the most Box Tops.
Many schools have annual Box Tops drives. Our school has contests to see which classrooms can bring in the most Box Tops. It is a great way to encourage everyone to collect and submit Box Tops so we can earn lots of cash for our school.
