How To Make Your Own Bubble Solution (Plus See What Our Giant Bubble Wand Can Do)

A giant bubble wand can make amazingly big bubbles! We can go through a LOT of bubble solution this way, so I found a great recipe to make our own by the bucketful! Anytime we do this bubbles activity, it attracts every kid in the neighborhood to our yard. Everyone loves giving the giant bubble wand a try.

Fun With Giant Bubbles Activity!

Since making giant bubbles can use up a lot of bubble solution really fast, we make our own bubble solution. It is easy and inexpensive to make at home. We mix our bubble solution up in a bucket. The bucket’s opening is big enough for us to dip our giant bubble wands into the bubble solution.

All the ingredients are easy to find at just about any store, except for the vegetable glycerin. I have seen it in Michaels craft store (in the baking section.) I ordered a bottle of Now vegetable glycerin from Amazon. Just a few tablespoons of glycerin makes a huge difference in how well the bubbles work. Glycerin helps make the bubbles thicker and stronger, so they don’t pop as easily.

The cornstarch helps thicken the bubble solution, too. Make sure to use warm tap water so the cornstarch dissolves easier. I have only ever used Dawn Original dishwashing liquid to make this solution, so I do not know if another kind will work as well.

How To Make Bubbles Solution

This homemade bubble solution works for making bubbles of any size, but note that this recipe makes a large amount of bubble solution. You can cut the recipe in half, or even in quarters, to make a smaller amount of bubble solution.

What You’ll Need:

• A bucket
• 16 cups warm water
• 1 cup Dawn Original Dishwashing Liquid (Blue)
• 4 Tablespoons Vegetable Glycerin
• 2 Tablespoons Cornstarch

Directions:

Stir together all ingredients in a bucket until the cornstarch is completely dissolved. Once the bubble solution is mixed well, it is ready to use to make bubbles!
