Death by Chocolate Trifle is one of the easiest desserts I have ever made. The wonderful thing about trifles is that they always look impressive when served in a clear trifle bowl that lets you see the layers. And the wonderful thing about this particular trifle is that it includes a LOT of CHOCOLATE. Don’t worry, it tones down all that luscious chocolatey flavor with layers of fluffy whipped topping and toffee bits.
I’m not sure who named this dessert “Death by Chocolate” but I’m hoping they were joking about the death part. At least I can tell you that no one died after eating this at my house. They just kept coming back for more!

I love making this trifle to take when invited for supper and asked to bring the dessert. I use chocolate cake (9×13) instead of brownies and don’t drizzle with hot fudge. Always get compliments!
