Eco-Friendly Gardening With TerraCycle Plant Food & Urban Art Pots

April 11, 2012 by Nicole 18 Comments

TerraCycle leads the way when it comes to upcycling and finding ways to recycle hard-to-recycle waste.  They also have a variety of eco-friendly home and family products made from all sorts of upcycled materials, including candy wrappers, drink pouches and chip bags. Spring is in the air and what better way to garden sustainably than with eco-friendly garden items from Terracycle?  Useful items like flower pots, all natural fertilizers and cleaners, bird feeders, and garden products like plant caddies made from recycled and upcycled materials, which makes use out of trash that would normally go sit in the earth’s landfills.

Terracycle’s Organic Based All Purpose Plant Food is non-toxic fertilizer that is ready to use right out of the recycled soda pop bottle packaging. This plant food is made by feeding organic waste to millions of worms, who turn it into worm poop, which happens to be a great thing for nourishing plants!  Use it on potted and garden plants – it’s the perfect 5-3-4 primary nutrient formula for helping everything grow. ($4.99/bottle)

Urban Art Pots are a one-of-a-kind way to contain your plants. They are made for “E-waste,” things like computers and fax machines that normally would be dumped into landfills. The 8-inch planting pots come in 4 colors and range from simple solid colors to intricate designs. ($9.99 each)

Noelle, I haven’t tried the plant food – they didn’t send me any for review, they are just sending some to the winner. Guess I’ll have to buy some! 🙂 It does sound really good, wish I could try it out.

I *love* that the Urban Art Pots are made in the US and that each is unique, can’t beat something that wonderful for that price.

What great products. I have been looking for a new fertilizer to use with my plants. I have used fish fertilizer in the past, but it has its drawbacks.

It has been a great thing for me to abandon the ‘blue stuff’ (chemical fertilizers. I am always interested in new sources for new natural products for my garden, so thanks!

The Rafflecopter calls me ‘Margot’ since it is accessing my facebook where I am ‘Margot Core’.
