I participated in a campaign on behalf of Mom Central Consulting for Discover Boating. I received collateral to facilitate my review and a promotional item as a thank you for participating. Boating is one of our favorite fun summer activities for families.
Our family inherited a small recreational boat last summer. We are still learning the ropes – it seems like every boat trip we take helps us get a little bit better at boating. What we do know for sure is that boating has become one of our favorite ways to spend time with our family and friends. There are so many different boating activities to do, we are trying to pack in a little bit of everything this summer.
Just Cruisin’ the Lake For Fun
Some families practice fire drills…my family practices boat drills. We like to try to beat our family’s time record for getting from our driveway to the nearest boat launch. Just cruising around the lake on our boat on a nice summer evening is relaxing and makes for good times.
Kick Up the Excitement! Tubing is Fun For Everyone!
Everyone loves to go tubing, especially the kids! We got a wakeboard this year, too. All of us are still learning how to do that. So far, my husband is the best at it.
Fourth of July Boating Fun
We spent the Fourth of July holiday near Grand Teton National Park in Wyoming. We tried desperately to rent a boat because the lakes and mountains were so beautiful, but of course, everything was booked. (Vacation Tip: Make boat rental reservations in advance! Check DiscoverBoating.com for helpful Boat Rental information.) We had to settle for a scenic cruise on a boat with lots of other people, which was fun but not as fun as being able to explore an area in your own boat. Oh well! We will plan ahead next time.
Our boat ride in the Grand Tetons did give us access to a hiking trail that led us to these amazing waterfalls! Boats are a wonderful way to get to all sorts of areas no car would ever have access to.
Our Upcoming Boat Plans:
No summer would be complete without a family reunion at the lake. In August, we are looking forward to taking everyone out on our boat to do whatever they want to do. The old folks want a relaxing boat ride, the younger folks want to wakeboard and tube. And our great-grandpa wants to take my little boys fishing. So we have a schedule full of exciting plans for our group.

I’m glad you are able to get away with your family & make memories with them. You will be able to look back on those times & treasure the experiences that you shared.

In addition to cruising, picnicking, skiing & tubing, we enjoy geocaching while out on the lake!

I wish that I had my own boat and a jet ski. I love being on the water.

My family only had a Sunfish when I was growing up – no motorboat. When I met my husband and his family had one, I was thrilled, although I’ve never learned to waterski, which is something I would like to do. You are so lucky!
