Meet Peppa Pig.

Peppa Pig and her cute British accent is so much fun to listen to when I watch TV with my younger kids. Her family snorts, oinks and laughs together in every “Peppasode”. (If you haven’t seen Peppa Pig yet, check your local Nick Jr. listings.) For the first time ever in the US, you can find Peppa-themed playsets, plush toys, DVD and books.

I’m speaking from the mother of 4 boys point of view when I say one of the things I like about Peppa Pig is that the show is not just “for girls.” Peppa Pig is the star of the show, but her brother, George, along with Mommy and Daddy Pig are all key figures in each show. The show teaches preschoolers social skills such as how to express their feelings and cooperate with others. The storylines in every show are things that all young children can relate to, including playing with friends, visiting grandparents, and going to the playground.

The Peppa Pig Peek n’ Surprise Playhouse from Fisher Price was a first for me and my 2-year-old (almost 3). We’re an all-boy household and have never owned a mini-house complete with mini-furniture! Even the older boys were a little intrigued by this Peppa Pig playset. It comes with Peppa Pig and George figures that my son loved to play with in the house. The playhouse can close up for carrying around by its handle.

I’m glad there is a Peppa Pig DVD available because now my son can watch the show anytime. The DVD features 10 Peppasodes that will keep your child entertained and support emotional and social development. We love Peppa Pig!

My son loves plush toys, so I wasn’t surprised that he carried around the Fisher-Price Hug ‘n Oink Peppa Pig talking plush toy for several days. She talks when you squeeze her stomach and since she has that cute British accent, it doesn’t really annoy me like other talking toys. I could listen to her say, “Give me a hug!” all day long. (And believe me when I say, the kids have made sure I have done that.) The smaller plush version of Peppa Pig is dressed in her yellow rain coat. If you know Peppa, you know much she loves to jump in puddles.

The new book Peppa Pig and the Lost Christmas List will make a great addition to your preschooler’s holiday reading library this year.
