Anyone who knows my family knows we love to go on vacations. Who doesn’t?! Our favorite vacation destinations are places where we can have fun outdoors. Gulf County Florida is a great place for adventurous families who want to get away from the hustle and bustle of the usual Florida tourist scene.

The hardest part about planning your Gulf County, Florida vacation will be fitting in all the fun activities you want to do! It does not matter if you have never gone snorkeling, horseback riding, hiking or camping. This is the time and place to try new ecotourism adventures.

Explore underwater!

I am not SCUBA-certified, but there is a 30-minute Discover Scuba course at Daly’s Water Sports. I can take the course and then go on an actual dive on a historic shipwreck. It’s all supervised by the instructor, so it’s safe and fun!

There are many diving, snorkeling and scalloping adventures to go on in Gulf County. The sky – or should I say “sea” –  is the limit when it comes to underwater exploration.

Kayaking

My family loves to kayak. The crystal clear waters in St. Joseph Bay and the Dead Lakes are popular places to explore. You can choose a guided or unguided tour, depending on your level of expertise on the water.

Salt Water Fishing

It’s one of my bucket list items to take a chartered salt water fishing excursion. I think it would be so cool for my family to go out and catch our own dinner! There’s a chance you will catch Grouper, Mahi, Red Snapper, Spanish Mackeral, Amberjack…and possibly even a shark (which I think would be a little scary…like the movie “Jaws”).
