Last year’s Worm Juice Halloween Punch recipe was such a big hit, I decided to go back to my Book of Potions and concoct another version.
The best part about this punch is the worms. But please do not use real live worms in this recipe. That would taste really gross. Your kids will not want to drink it.
Pick up a bag of the sugary, gummy kind of worms instead. Those taste much, much better. Kids love them. And they are vegetarian-friendly.
You’ll need to prep your Worm Juice ice ring several hours ahead of time. You may even want to do it the day ahead of your party, just to be sure it has had plenty of time to freeze solid.
Halloween Punch: Worm Juice Version 2
What You’ll Need:
- A bundt cake pan (or a ring pan)
- Apple Juice (a large bottle, enough to fill the cake pan)
- Gummy Worms
- 2 (2-liter) bottles of Sprite
- A large punch bowl
Step One: Fill the bundt cake pan with apple juice, leaving about an inch of extra room at the top of the pan.
Step Two: Add gummy worms to the apple juice in the pan. Put in as many as you want. Be sure to save a few gummy worms for Step Five.
Step Three: Freeze until solid. This takes several hours in my freezer. I let mine freeze overnight.
Step Four: Remove from freezer. If the frozen apple juice ring does not slide out of the cake pan (it probably won’t) you will need to help it out a little bit. I put my cake pan in hot water for about 15-30 seconds (do not fully immerse the cake pan in the water).
The hot water will melt it just enough so you can easily remove the apple juice ring from the pan and put it into the punch bowl.
Step Five: Pour Sprite into the punch bowl over the apple juice ice ring until full. Add the rest of the gummy worms (reserved in step two).
That’s it! The apple juice/gummy worm ring will slowly begin to melt in the Sprite. As it melts, gummy worms will start to come loose in the punch.
But the apple juice/gummy worm ring should keep the punch cool for hours. Refill the punch bowl with Sprite as needed.
Which version of Worm Juice do you like best – this year’s or last year’s? The big worm ice ring is fun, and so are the individual Worm Ice Cubes.
