Healthy Snacks For Kids on a Road Trip with Motts® Snack & Go

Healthy snacking on road trips is entirely possible with a little bit of advance planning and preparation. It’s totally worth it, too. The kids (and adults) will feel so much better eating nutritious snacks instead of junk food in the car. Make room for a small cooler to keep foods fresh and easily accessible. All fruits and veggies make great choices for the road, but some are easier to travel with than others.

Healthy Snacks For Kids on the Go

Some of our favorite healthy snacks for kids on a road trip include:

Motts® Snack & Go applesauce. These have the added bonus of being mess-free! No spoon required. Kids of all ages love these applesauce pouches.

Carrots and Celery Sticks. Both of these satisfy the need to eat something crunchy. I like to buy the Baby Carrots in a bag since they are ready to eat.

Cheese Sticks.

Sliced apples, bananas, strawberries, grapes and oranges. I have found that these are some of the easiest fruits to take on a trip.

Fruit Leather.

Sandwiches. Make sandwiches ahead of time and store in an airtight container. Good ole PB&J sandwiches always hit the spot! If you make a meat and cheese sandwich, avoid soggy bread by waiting to add mustard and mayo until you are ready to eat it.

Any Bars: Granola, Fruit and Cereal.

Whole Grain Crackers. These pair nicely with the cheese sticks.

Yogurt. If you don’t want to bring spoons, get the to-go yogurt in sleeves.

Trail Mix. It can be as simple as raisins and peanuts.

All of the above are also what I like to send to school with my kids for snack and lunch. We try to make healthy food choices. Even though my kids love sugary treats, there are ways to satisfy their sweet tooth without junk food. The natural sugars found in fruits can do that. And they really like to take applesauce, especially when they found out that they can have it in an easy, no-mess pouch.

Motts Snack & Go

Motts® Snack & Go applesauce comes in a variety of flavors. So far, my family has tried the Natural flavor and the Strawberry flavor. The Strawberry applesauce has been a favorite with the kids. Strawberries are one of their favorite fruits. They had never tried a strawberry applesauce until Mott’s. They all think the Motts® applesauce flavored with real strawberry is delicious, and of course everyone likes the classic natural flavor, too.

The Snack & Go applesauce pouches are very portable. I usually stash one in my purse for when someone gets hungry and we’re out and about. They are also easy to grab and go for school lunch boxes.

What are your go-to healthy snacks for kids? What foods do you pack for road trips? Does your child like to eat applesauce?

My daughter is an adult and I still make her bring applesauce pouches on trips because she is mess-prone with the cups!

HAHA Pam, your comment made me laugh. It may sound silly, but I really enjoy using the pouches too. They are so much easier to carry around in my purse and don’t require a spoon. I sneak some from my kids every now and then.
