Winter can be cold – and my favorite way to warm up is with a sweet cup of delicious hot chocolate. If you are a fan of Starbucks hot chocolate (I am!) you quickly realize how a few dollars per cup adds up. The good news is that you can make all sorts of gourmet hot chocolate (that tastes just as good, or possibly even BETTER than Starbucks?) at home. Some of my favorite food bloggers have posted the most amazing hot chocolate recipes I can’t wait to try.

As I have gone around gathering up homemade hot chocolate recipes, I noticed that many of the food bloggers had the same advice for how to make hot chocolate. Every seems to agree that the best hot chocolate recipe is made by melting chocolate into milk. Powdered cocoa can be used, but the ultimate richness is with quality chocolate, melted down. There are recipes in my collection made with real chocolate and cocoa powder – so it’s really up to you to decide what is best.
From Peppermint Hot Chocolate to Salted Caramel Hot Chocolate, there is a homemade hot cocoa for everyone. Try something new and different, you just may love it! What is your favorite flavor of hot chocolate?

This is funny, but I did not know that Starbuck’s had hot chocolate. I like making a hot cup of cocoa in the Winter because it really warms me up. There are a lot of wonderful recipes, and I like the Cookies and Cream Hot Chocolate!

Thanks for sharing your collection. I’ve marked a few to try, but I’m thinking the Nutella Hot Chocolate and the White Hot Chocolate are sure to be hits around here. Can’t wait to try them!
