Miracle-Gro Expand ‘n Gro Concentrated Planting Mix

March 20, 2012 by Nicole

This is a Sponsored post written by me on behalf of Scotts® for SocialSpark. All opinions are 100% mine.

Spring is here and It’s time to start planting your flower and vegetable gardens!  Miracle-Gro has recently introduced a new product, Expand ‘n Gro™, that will help you grow up to 3 times the flowers and vegetables versus native soil.  Miracle-Gro Expand ‘n Gro Concentrated Planting Mix uses all-natural coconut coir blended with Miracle-Gro plant food to produce a unique planting mix for gardens and containers.  It is lightweight and easy to carry, and can expand up to 3 times when mixed with water.  Expand ‘n Gro improves the environment of your native soil and feeds your plants for up to six months!

Basic potting soil can be heavy and messy.  Miracle-Gro Expand ‘n Gro Concentrated Planting Mix is easier to work with and can hold up to 50% more water, helping your plants get the moisture they need when they need it. The coconut coir contains an organic polymer called lignin, which slowly decomposes and benefits the soil for several years.

I have used Miracle-Gro plant food in the past and noticed lovely results with my flowers.  They produced bigger blooms and seemed to stay colorful and pretty for a longer period of time because I used the Miracle-Gro.  I love the idea of mixing the Expand ‘n Gro concentrated planting mix with regular soil this spring and summer growing season to make it into a more workable and better growing environment for my plants.

Wouldn’t you love to grow bigger, more beautiful flowers and vegetables this spring and summer?  Here is your chance to try new Miracle-Gro Expand ‘n Gro Concentrated Planting Mix for yourself, FREE, by commenting on this blog post.  One randomly selected winner (USA residents ages 18 and up) will get a sample of Miracle-Gro Expand ‘n Gro Concentrated Planting Mix.

How to Enter to Win: Simply leave a friendly comment – I’d love to hear your favorite gardening tip or the flowers and vegetables you are looking forward to planting in your garden this year.  Comments will be taken until April 8, 2012 and I will contact the lucky winner by e-mail.

Congratulations, C!

Ever since moving to Florida, I can’t grow tomatoes. I try every year with no luck. Last year, I thought I would try something different and do a patio garden….still no luck. I am going to try again this year and I would love to try it with Expand ‘n Gro. I’m about to give up!

I can’t wait to plant basil and tomatoes. Keep pinching the basil plants and they will get nice and thick. Try fresh cut tomato slices on a sandwich with a few fresh picked basil leaves, Yummy!

We would love to win!!! We realllly need our garden to do better this year. I haven’t canned beans in several years and we really miss it. I don’t have any real tips. For us, our main issue has just been getting out there and spending the time weeding/maintaining. We have a 3 year old and a 14month old, so it makes things a little harder for me to spend a lot of time out there (without little people hanging on me or stepping on things).

I have always used Miracle Gro products–and always have loved them and had success. I think this new product is a great idea for potted plants, flowers or veggies. Living in the southeastern part of the US–it gets hot–and anything that can help hold moisture in the soil is worth a try! Gardening tip: never water in middle of the day(puts stress on plants even if they look limp)and only fertilize in early morning or early evening. Gardens are fun but require love and work:) look for low maintenance plants/veggies–esp. if you are a beginner.

So I usually can’t keep anything alive that has green on it! LOL I would love to try this and see if it helps my black thumb! I’ve been wanting to try my hand at some basic herbs to use for cooking and maybe a small plant of tomatoes.

Put slug bait out and keep up on it. I have a lot of slugs. You can also put garlic around shrubs for certain bugs that are eating the leaves like the weevil. I am having trouble adjusting to the beach weather compared to the hot summers in Portland, OR. I love planting cherry tomatoes and they do well in big pots. I put them close to the house and out of the wind. It is very windy here too. We have deer and raccoons here too. I love to garden. This soil looks great and miracle grow works.
