Movie Night Snack Ideas: Mix Your Own Trail Mix Bar

November 20, 2014 by Nicole

Trail Mix Bar M&Ms #ad #MovieNight4Less

Popcorn is a must-have for any movie party. And for something sweet to go with the salty popcorn…you can never go wrong with M&Ms. I picked up party size bags of Plain M&M’s® and Peanut M&M’s®. Then I had a flashback to when I used to make an M&Ms trail mix — and decided a Mix Your Own Trail Mix bar would be an easy party snack idea.

To go with the football theme from The Blind Side movie, I found cute football-shaped bowls for everyone to use to make their trail mix. I like being able to mix my own so I can put about 80% M&M’s® and 20% raisins and nuts. The M&M’s® are always the first thing to get eaten in my trail mixes.

It’s simple to create a Mix Your Own Trail Mix Bar. We set ours up on the kitchen counter. All it takes are separate containers for the different ingredients you want to use as mix-ins. Ingredients we used: Plain and Peanut M&M’s, peanut butter chips, mixed nuts and raisins. You don’t really need to use a trail mix recipe – everyone can create a custom trail mix just the way they like it.

What are your movie night must-haves? Describe your perfect trail mix bar – I would love to hear about your favorite mix-ins.

I can’t believe I am going to admit this but I have never thought of making my own trail mix! Great idea! I’m not sure the M&M’s would last long enough to make this though!! 😉

M&Ms never last long at my house either! I think I could have made an all M&Ms trail mix and everyone would have been thrilled. LOL I like making my own trail mixes – next time I am going to use Craisins, White Chocolate Chips, Nuts and of course, M&Ms (I’m thinking the Dark Chocolate or Pretzel M&Ms would be good in a trail mix). Thanks for stopping by, Heather! —Nicole
