I don’t know what is worse: the fact that there are so many annoying Premenstrual Syndrome symptoms or that we women have to deal with PMS every single month (for decades, I might add!). PMS affects almost every woman to some degree or another. PMS is the body’s response to the rapid hormonal changes that take place 7 to 10 days before a woman starts her period. Some of the most common PMS symptoms are bloating, cramps, and fatigue.
You may experience one or more of these symptoms in the days leading up to your period. The good news is whether you have mild symptoms or severe, there are ways to deal with annoying PMS symptoms. Hopefully you will be able to find a method that works so you can get on with your daily routine.
Overall, living a healthy lifestyle that includes a nutritious diet and regular exercise can work wonders at relieving most women’s PMS symptoms.
How to Deal with: PMS Bloating (Water Retention)
- Limit your salt intake
- Eat lots of fruits and veggies
- Drink flat water instead of carbonated beverages like soda. Soda contains gas that can cause your stomach to fill fuller and uncomfortable.
- Take water pills (bloat medicine).
Diurex® Bloat Medicine® helps relieve swelling, bloating, temporary water weight gain, full feeling and fatigue associated with PMS and menstrual periods. It’s the #1 diuretic brand known as “The Gentle Diuretic” that really works. Millions of women use Diurex. There are 5 different formulas to meet your specific PMS discomfort needs.
How to Deal with: PMS Cramps
- Take a walk. Walking and stretching are easy ways to exercise and reduce period cramps.
- Take a warm bath. Warm water relaxes muscles and can help alleviate painful cramps.
- Take an Over-the-Counter pain medications to manage menstrual pain and cramps.
- Eat a banana! Cramps may be caused by a potassium deficiency, and bananas have lots of potassium. Other potassium-rich foods to try: leafy greens, white beans, fish and dried fruit.
How to Deal with: PMS Fatigue
- Get plenty of sleep at night (7 to 9 hours.)
- Take a multivitamin.
- Exercise regularly (4 to 5 times per week for 30 minutes.) Exercise releases endorphins that make you feel happier and less stress.
- Decrease stress. Relax and try to reduce your anxiety levels. High stress levels can make PMS symptoms worse.

My indication that my period is about to come, apart from bloating, cramping and painful breast, is when I am craving sour foods particularly raw mangoes, this idea really makes me drool. But, if possible, I am avoiding this craving because my always reminding me about how it causes more pain. So, she gives l-theanine tea instead to relieve from PMS symptoms because it helps by simultaneously increasing dopamine and GABA levels in the brain while also increasing alpha wave activities. Regarding with Diurex Ultra, I haven’t tried this, but I am planning to try this though.
