At one of my many random past jobs, I somehow got assigned extra duties based on the fact that I had a nice Southern accent. (It’s helpful to mention that I was not living in the South at the time, so my accent was a novelty of sorts.) For some reason, my bosses thought that if a woman with a nice Southern accent got on the phone and called clients who owed them money and asked them to send a check, they would have better luck with their business debt collection.
It must have been effective, because I was asked to make these types of calls from time to time. I probably should have charged a fee for my services!
