Thank you to DreamWorks The Boss Baby for sponsoring this blog post. All opinions expressed are my own.
The kids love it when we have family movie night. We love to laugh together, so funny family movies are always a top pick for us. That’s why I cannot wait for us to watch DreamWorks The Boss Baby now available to on Blu-ray™, DVD and Digital HD.
Get ready to meet The Boss Baby (Alec Baldwin) and his big brother, Tim. The Boss Baby arrives at his new family’s house wearing a suit and carrying a briefcase. It’s instant sibling rivalry between him and 7-year-old Tim. Tim soon discovers The Boss Baby is actually a spy on a secret mission, and only he can help. The two team up for an epic adventure that might just change the world!
My boys were excited to wear the Boss Baby necktie t-shirts we made for The Boss Baby family movie night. This super simple craft activity lets kids color a necktie on a tee shirt. (See Necktie T-shirt craft directions at the end of the blog post.)
One of my boys decided to go with an all-black tie like Boss Baby. The other one went for bright and colorful.
We completed the Boss Baby look with a pair of black sunglasses! These two brothers were ready to join Tim and Boss Baby on a top secret mission.
Not only does he look like Boss Baby, but he can sound like Boss Baby with a little help from the Target Exclusive Talking Keychain. Push the button to hear six hilarious movie quotes. Believe me, you will have them memorized in no time!
3 Easy Tips For a Fun Family Movie Night
Pick a movie everyone can enjoy.
DreamWorks The Boss Baby is perfect for family movie night because it’s fun-filled and hilarious for all ages. Plus, the takeaway message is all about the importance of family, love and friendship.
You’ll want to buy the movie for the extras! The Boss Baby includes a New Mini Adventure, narrated by Wizzy, the magical wizard from Tim’s alarm clock. The adventure takes the boys on a pirate ship, into outer space, into the sea, and beyond. Super cool extras everyone wants to see. (Note: New Mini Adventure is not available on VOD)
Don’t forget the snacks!
Kids think it is so fun when our movie snacks go along with the movie theme. Chocolate chip cookies play a part in The Boss Baby movie, so I baked homemade Chocolate Chip Cookie Bites for us to enjoy. (The cookie recipe can be found below.)
Everyone got their own treat cup, filled with chocolate chip cookies. I printed a catchy quote from The Boss Baby, “Cookies are for closers” on sticky labels for the treat cups. Of course, that made my kids super curious, What does ‘Cookies are for closers’ mean, Mom? I told them they will have to watch the movie to find out!

Get comfortable.
Make sure everyone’s got a comfy seat with a good view of the screen. And now, you are all ready to enjoy the show!

Necktie T-Shirt Craft For Kids
What You’ll Need:
- White T-shirt
- Freezer Paper
- Printable Necktie Template
- Craft Knife or Scissors
- Pen
- Iron
- Fabric Markers
Directions:
1. Print the Necktie Template on a sheet of paper and use a pen to trace the necktie outline onto a piece of freezer paper. Use a craft knife or scissors to cut out the inside of the tie from the freezer paper. This will create a necktie stencil.
2. Center the necktie stencil on the front of the t-shirt so that the top of the necktie is an inch or two below the head hole. Make sure the freezer paper is shiny side down. Press a hot, dry iron on the freezer paper stencil so that it sticks to the shirt.
3. Color the necktie shape inside the stencil with fabric markers. Be careful not to color underneath the freezer paper. Tip: Put a piece of stiff cardboard in between the t-shirt layers to prevent marker ink from soaking through. When finished coloring, peel off the freezer paper to reveal the necktie shape on the shirt.
- 1 1/3 cups Flour
- 1 tsp Corn Starch
- 1/4 + 1/8 tsp Baking Soda
- 1/2 cup Unsalted Butter, Softened
- 1/2 cup Light Brown Sugar, firmly packed
- 1/4 cup White Sugar
- 1/4 cup White Cake Mix
- 1 Large Egg
- 1.5 tsp Vanilla
- 2/3 cup Milk Chocolate Chips *Plus a Few Extra for Topping
- Preheat oven to 350 degrees. In a small mixing bowl, whisk together Flour, Corn Starch, Baking Soda and Salt. Set aside.
- Add softened Butter and both Sugars to your electric mixer's bowl and mix on medium speed until well combined. Mix in the egg and vanilla.
- Set the mixer to a low speed, and slowly add in the dry ingredients from Step 1. Mix well. Use a spoon to stir in chocolate chips.
- Scoop cookie dough out 1/2 a rounded teaspoon at a time and drop onto a prepared cookie sheet about an inch apart. Shape the dough into ball shapes. Add a chocolate chip to the top of each dough ball (optional.)
- Bake in preheated oven for about 6 minutes. For best results, remove cookies from the oven while they still look slightly under-baked. The cookies will cook a little bit more while they cool on the baking sheet for about 2 minutes. Transfer cookies to a wire rack to finish cooling.

Hi – in the notes for your recipe you mention both sugars but I only see an amount specified for brown sugar. How much sugar do you recommend? Thank you!
Nicole says
Hi Kristin, Thank you for asking, I apologize that was not listed in the recipe. I have fixed the recipe now so it lists the correct amount of White granulated sugar to use in addition to the brown sugar. You will need 1/4 cup of white sugar. –Nicole
