Slow Cooker Desserts Cookbook Review

February 8, 2013 by Nicole

I was thrilled to receive a copy of Slow Cooker Desserts: Hot, Easy and Delicious Custards, Cobblers, Souffles Pies Cakes and More by Jonnie Downing for my review. I love to use my slow cooker for main dishes at meal time, but had never even thought about cooking up dessert! This cookbook is filled with recipes and inspiration for all sorts of delicious desserts you can make with little to no hassle, right in your slow cooker. I learned a lot about slow cooker desserts from this book, one of the main things being that there is a huge variety of desserts that can be made in a slow cooker.

There are 6 chapters that start us off with Cakes and Cheesecakes and take us through Cobblers, Crisps and other Fruit Desserts; Custards and Puddings; Cookies, Brownies and Bars; Fruit Compotes, Spreads and Sauces; and finally, Emergency Desserts. Everyone’s favorite desserts are found here in simple, stress-free versions that pretty much only require you to add the ingredients to the slow cooker and come back a few hours later when dessert is done.

A few of my favorite Slow Cooker Desserts recipes include:

  • Mini Berry Cobbler
  • Super Simple Slow Cooker Cheesecake
  • Chocolate Lava Cake
  • Lemon Bars

Life is busy – we don’t always have time to bake our favorite treats. If you have this book, you can harness the magic of slow cooking so you never have to go without a delicious dessert again!

WHERE TO BUY:

Slow Cooker Desserts: Hot, Easy, and Delicious Custards, Cobblers, Souffles, Pies, Cakes, and More is available for online at Amazon.com and can be found at other book retailers.

I love to make BBQ Chicken in my slow cooker. The meat becomes so much more melt in your mouth tender compared to oven cooking.
For Red meats I line the pot with onions then the meat & seasoning & cover with onoins…this adds both flavor & mositure plus I love eating the slow cooked onions too !
