Washi Tape S’mores Sticks

July 28, 2016 by Nicole 14 Comments

Everyone who has tried it (and we recently had a s’mores party!) agrees that Washi Tape S’mores Sticks are a super fun idea. These are so quick and easy to make (I promise!) and totally worth the teeny tiny amount of effort it takes. They do double duty as marshmallow roasting sticks AND table decorations.

I love to collect washi tapes, and look for cute ways to put my stash to good use. For example, making these unique s’mores sticks. Everyone can pick their own marshmallow roasting stick with colorful washi tape flags on the end.

To create a S’mores Stick display similar to what’s pictured in the photo above, you’ll need a 4-inch metal pail and a piece of styrofoam. Cut the styrofoam to fit inside the pail. Push Washi Tape S’mores Sticks (pointy end down) into the styrofoam to hold them in place.

How to Make Washi Tape S’mores Sticks

Materials Needed:

  • Bamboo Skewers
  • Washi Tape (variety)
  • Scissors

Directions (See photo tutorial below.)

  1. Cut a piece of washi tape approximately 2 inches long. At about 1/2 inch from the blunt end of the skewer, wrap the washi tape in half around the skewer and press the sticky backs of the tape together as evenly as possible.
  2. Use scissors to cut a triangle “flag” shape in the washi tape. Repeat Steps 1 and 2 for each S’mores Stick.

In case you were wondering, that’s a homemade cotton ball garland in the background. Another simple and low cost s’mores party decoration you can make in minutes. It totally fooled my kids at first — they thought I had used real marshmallows!

I LOVE the easy garland. You’re a genius. I was at Walmart the other day and thought about having a smore’s night with the kiddos. I’m going to check out your Fire Bowl post. So nice to co-host with you at #HomeMattersParty
