Spelt & Honey White Wheat Bread Recipe ~ Perfect For Bread Machines

September 28, 2012 by Nicole

Hi, this is Nicole from Mom Always Finds Out and I’m taking part in the Grain Mill Wagon Challenge. Over the next few weeks I will be posting recipes I make using grain milled flours. This morning, I spent a few minutes using my new Wondermill grain mill to grind about 5 pounds of white wheat and 5 pounds of hulled spelt. A few minutes is all it takes to grind your own fresh flours for baking!

The Wondermill makes grinding your own grains easy as can be! I was able to fill my flour containers with nutritious, freshly ground wheat and spelt flours this morning.

My family loves to eat freshly baked bread straight out of the oven. Lately, we have been so busy that I have been thankful to have a bread machine to do all the hard work for me. I had never tried a spelt-based bread machine recipe until today. The results were perfect, so I am really excited to share this simple recipe with you.

Spelt & Honey White Wheat Bread Recipe (For Bread Machines)

Prep Time: 5 Minutes

Cook Time: 4 hrs 10 minutes

Yield: 1 Loaf

2 cups spelt flour
2 cups white wheat flour
2 1/2 teaspoons bread machine active dry yeast
1 1/2 cups warm water
1 teaspoon kosher salt
2 tablespoons honey
2 tablespoons coconut oil

Directions:

1. Add water to bread machine, then oil, honey, salt, flour, and yeast.
2. Bake on “Normal” setting (which is 4 hours 10 minutes with my machine) and light crust settings

Let me know how you like this recipe if you try it. Ours was delicious topped with honey butter!

Disclosure: Mom Always Finds Out received a Wondermill Grain Mill to facilitate my participation in the Grain Mill Wagon Challenge and is eligible to win additional prizes as part of the October contest. All opinions expressed are 100% my own.

Hey Katherine! I don’t know if you’re looking for a place to get a bread machine on the cheap, but just thought I’d throw this tip out there for you and anyone else who reads the comments. 🙂
I wanted a bread machine for the longest time and watched Craigslist and got a steal on one. People buy them thinking they will use them (then don’t) or get them as wedding presents and never use them, then eventually get rid of them for cheap. Garage Sales can be a good place to look, too. The lady I got mine from had used hers ONCE and then it sat on the shelf collecting dust for years. I got it for like $30!
