Sports Illustrated Kids Books Football Then To Wow and Wildest Plays in Sports

September 17, 2014 by Nicole

sports books for kids

Sports Illustrated Kids recently sent us two of their newest titles: FOOTBALL Then to WOW! and What Are The CHANCES? The WILDEST PLAYS in Sports. This blog post may contain affiliate links.

My sons (ages 10 and 7) are very interested in sports, especially football. Sports Illustrated Kids presents sports history and trivia in a fun and engaging way through books like FOOTBALL Then to WOW! The books is full of large full-color photographs and exciting graphics. Kids learn about football history – everything from the first football uniforms in the 1890s (yikes, they didn’t wear pads back then!) to how The Super Bowl ticket prices, TV commercials and viewship has skyrocketed over the years.

Their favorite chapter is probably “The Players”. They learn about past and present NFL stars are changing the way their position is played. My boys also love the complete list of Super Bowl champions from 1966 to present. Sports Illustrated analyzed every winner to find out whether the saying “Defense wins championships” is actually true. The findings are quite interesting.

From football to baseball, hockey, basketball and more professional sports, What are the Chances? The Wildest Plays in Sports is 120 pages long and packed with amazing plays that you just can’t believe ever actually happened. But the full-color photos straight from Sports Illustrated magazines are there to prove it along with player’s name, dates and descriptions. Kids love to become sports history buffs by learning about all the record-breaking plays by legendary athletes in pro sports.

My son turns 10 in October, and is a football nut. He enjoys flag football at school, and would rather be running plays in our front yard, on a hike, or in the middle of a camping trip than anything else. And we live in Alaska!
