One of my favorite blogs to regularly visit for great information and giveaways is Makobi Scribe. So when I got an e-mail from Jennifer at Makobi Scribe, telling me I was one of her picks for the Stylish Blogger Award, I was 1) shocked and 2) so honored! I appreciate this opportunity to accept the award by doing the following requirements:
1. Thank and link back to the blogger who gave you this award. THANK YOU, Jennifer at Makobi Scribe. You are awesome and I love your blog. I hope anyone who reads this post will check it out if they haven’t already.
2. Share 7 things about myself:
* I was born and raised in Alabama.
* I hate being cold and don’t like to wear coats — good thing I live in Alaska now!
* I have always had a phobia of dolls. (Does that have an official name like “dollophobia”?)
* In my early 20s, I spent time doing missionary service on a Navajo Indian Reservation in Arizona.
* My first job out of college was at a video rental store and my immediate supervisor was in high school.
* The first place my husband and I lived was in a tiny room at the top of a boathouse with no running water or toilet and a generator ran electricity to the one bulb we used for light.
* We were working our first married summer as kayak guides on a remote island in the Prince William Sound, so it was actually the time of our lives, although a real toilet would have been nice.
3. Award 10-15 other bloggers you feel deserve this award. These are blogs I subscribe to and visit daily – I love my Google Reader that doesn’t let me miss my favorite bloggers’ latest posts!
Here is my list in no particular order:
*This Mama Loves Her Bargains
*Your Green Helper
*Mom vs The Boys
*2 Wired 2 Tired
*All Aboard (the review & giveaway train)!
*Tips 4 Green
*Take It From Me
*Mama To 4 Blessings – Our Homeschool Blog
*Little BGCG and His Mama Review It
*Shibley Smiles
4. Contact these bloggers and let them know about the award.

You’re so sweet thanks! You and my cousin should get together she’s afraid of dolls but it might have something to do with the fact that when she was little I told her that they come to life at night LOL

You are welcome, I am glad to be able to give a little shout out to some of my favorite blogs. 🙂
That is so funny about your cousin – sounds like we would definitely be able to relate to each other! The coming to life at night was my biggest fear! Dolls are all nice during the day…but then at night…scary time!! I could never sleep with a doll in my room. (Even now!) LOL

Nicole thank you so much for passing on the award! It was so fun reading about you! I think we may have a crazy connection… you said you were a missionary in Arizona on the Indian Reservation. My parents are actually serving on the Navajo/Hopi reservation in (this may be wrong spelling) Kienta (K-I-en-ta). Is that where you were? It would be way cool if it was! I hope you are enjoying Alaska. I’m not sure I could handle the cold!

Take It From Me

Kristin, I know where you are talking about or the name is very similar sounding to a place that was in my same mission (Albuquerque NM) but I never made it there. I had friends who did though. That is cool your parents are there. I loved the people on the “Rez” so much, it was a great experience!

Congrats! I hate being cold, too. I’ve always wanted to live in Alaska, but the cold and gigantic skeeters have made me re-think the entire thing… maybe N. Dakota?
Thanks for stopping by my blog on the Alexa Hop!

The mosquitoes in Alaska are huge! There is a joke up here that the Alaska state bird is the mosquito! Haha

you are so sweet, thank you!!!
no toilet? no running water??? its a wonder you survived the first year! no really, it sounds like quite an adventure that you will never forget!
Nicole says
All of my friends and family thought I was crazy going to live out like that — but my husband is adventurous and you know how when you are in love and newly married, nothing phases you! It really was a once in a lifetime experience, at least for us, so I am glad we did it when we had the chance.
