TIME For Kids “Top 5 of Everything” Book Review

October 4, 2013 by Nicole

Mom Always Finds Out received a copy of TIME For Kids Top 5 of Everything book for review. All opinions expressed are my own. This blog post may contain affiliate links.

The TIME For Kids editors have done it again! The Top 5 of Everything is another fun fact-filled book my 9-year-old loves to read. This book is about just about everything under the sun: animals, sports, technology, people and entertainment. Children ages 8 and up will enjoy reading all the Top 5 lists. Colorful photos and illustrations are found on every page.

We have started taking this book with us in the car to read as we drive around town. I drive and my son reads out interesting Top 5 lists for all of us. The book has sparked a lot of conversations about people, places and things all over the world. There are more than 100 lists!

We have learned things like:

  • the hottest planets in the solar system
  • the baseball players with the most home runs
  • the fastest roller coasters
  • the most popular dog breeds
  • the biggest spiders
  • the longest spacewalks
  • Kids’ favorite toys

— and more! TIME For Kids has become one of our very favorite children’s book series. I love seeing my son’s face light up when I show him the latest book from TIME For Kids. He dives right in and starts reading.

A few of our favorite Sample Lists from the book:

Top 5 Cereals with the Most Sugar
1. Kellogg’s Honey Smacks
2. Post Golden Crisp
3. Kellogg’s Froot Loops Marshmallow
4. Quaker Oats Cap’n Crunch’s Oops!
5. Quaker Oats Original Cap’n Crunch

Top 5 Most-Searched-For Dictionary Words
*From Merriam-Webster’s website
1. Pretentious
2. Ubiquitous
3. Love
4. Cynical
5. Apathetic

Top 5 All-Time Favorite Toys
*Based on a poll of 20,000 people
1. G.I. Joe
2. Transformers
3. Lego
4. Barbie
5. View-Master

You can probably imagine how these lists can give you something to talk about with your child. Read the sample lists to them and see for yourself. It’s really fun. These factual books are entertaining, educational and spark a love of learning in my children. The Top 5 of Everything is a neat little book that everyone in the family can enjoy.

This sounds like a fun book my 3 year old would not be quite ready for this but my son would love this.
