Why The Earth Loves Bulk Foods ~ Bulk Is Green Infographic

March 21, 2013 by Nicole

love bulk foods

Are you looking for a way for your family to Go Green this Earth Day? I know how you can help the Earth, eat natural foods, eat healthier and save money all at the same time: Buy Bulk Foods. Purchasing natural and organic foods from the bulk bins at your local grocery store has a lot of environmental benefits. It’s one of the best ways you can help reduce the packaging waste that goes into landfills. Buying in bulk can save you money, too.

What are some of your favorite foods to buy in bulk? How do you make room in your pantry for bulk foods? Please feel free to share your thoughts about bulk foods in the comments section.

The Bulk Is Green (BIG) Council challenges you to Celebrate Earth Month by taking the pledge to buy bulk foods once a week during April!

Pledge to Buy Bulk & You Could Win!

Take the pledge to love bulk foods and purchase bulk foods once a week during the month of April. You will automatically be entered into the drawing to win a prize pack filled with everything you need to create a natural pantry stocked with bulk foods (approximate value $50). Winners will be drawn once a week during the Earth Month.

I buy in bulk whenever possible, particularly organic grains, flours, herbs and spices. Even made my own boags from organic muslin so I don’t have to use the plastic bags at the store!

I try to buy as much bilk as possible – a great way to get organic/non-GMO at a better price. Best way to go bulk is to bring your own containers to avoid the plastic ones at the bulk stores.

I knew buying in bulk was greener but I didn’t realize it was that effective! Thanks for the infographic, and I’ll definitely continue to buy bulk whenever possible

I buy in bulk whenever possible. My challenge is staying within my budget. It can be hard to judge how much you’re getting out of the bins; and I often end up with larger amounts than I planned on getting. Once you remove the product the store can’t put it back in the bin. Either you buy it or they throw it out if you refuse to get it.

I think that buying in bulk is such a great thing to do. I buy Oatmeal in bulk, coffee in bulk and peanut butter! Saves me money when I do this and it helps the environment!

I love using bulk products, everything from rice and raisins to herbs and spices. They’re fresher and less expensive.
