Allow Me To Show You Around My Maytag Gas Range #MaytagMoms

December 18, 2012 by Nicole

I believe that some people are born with the ability to cook. Sadly, I am not one of those people. My grandmother was one of those lucky people who are born to cook. She could whip up a perfect batch of homemade biscuits in her sleep. She passed down her buttermilk biscuit recipe, but not her ability to bake them perfectly every time! All the rest of us, my own mother included, have to work at it. And WORK is what  baking and cooking is to me most of the time. It can be hard, but enjoyable when you have the right tools to help you out.

Meet my Maytag gas range.

The first thing I notice about the Maytag Gas Range besides the lovely, gleaming stainless steel is the extra large viewing window. My kitchen looks beautiful with this appliance sitting in it. But good looks are not all this range has to offer.  Allow me to show you around my Maytag gas range.

I love this range for all of its convenient “How did I ever cook without this” features. That extra large viewing window helps me monitor the food I’m cooking on this inside without having to open the oven door. This keeps oven temperatures stable.

This range has a large 5.8 cubic foot capacity, which to be honest with you, those numbers don’t mean much to me. I have to see to believe, so I will show you a photo of the inside of the oven so you can see for yourself:

You notice there are three adjustable oven racks. Two are standard size and one is a maximum capacity rack, which means it is recessed to allow you to cook/bake large items. (My maximum capacity rack is the one in the middle, you can see how it is shaped differently from the racks above and below it.) This rack comes in handy at holiday times when you are cooking a huge turkey and need all the oven space you can get! The oven is very deep and I have been able to fit two or three casserole dishes or multiple cookie sheets in there together so I can cook more than one thing at a time. The large size also comes in handy when we bake over-sized pizzas.

Five gas burners on the top are the perfect number, if not more than enough for me! I have a favorite burner. It is called the 17,000 BTU Speed Heat™ Burner. This burner is like a burner on steroids. It can bring a pot of water to boil super fast. It is also nice to have a powerful burner like this to handle larger than normal cooking jobs. Every burner on the stovetop serves a purpose. Besides the Speed Heat Burner, there is also a 15,000 BTU Power Cook burner and a Flex Choice Simmer Burner. The simmer burner keeps cooked food warm in the background and the other more powerful burners free for additional meal prep. Here is a better view of the Power Center Gas Cooktop:

Cleaning the stovetop is easy. The two cast iron grates lift right off so I can wipe up any spills. Now is a great time to mention that the cast iron grates are heavy-duty, durable and built to last. I have taken the grate off of the left side in this photo:

The inside of the oven is designed for low temperature self-cleaning. The oven’s special inner coating activates with water and heat to release tough baked-on debris from underneath so it will simply wipe away. It takes less than an hour to use this convenient AquaLift® Self-Clean Technology to get my oven back to sparkling clean.

A couple of my favorite easy to use electronic buttons to use are the Keep Warm and the Convection Bake. The Keep Warm button holds the oven at a steady 175 degree temperature, keeping cooked food hot and ready to serve. Maytag’s EvenAir Convection did take a little practice for me to get to know how to use it just right. The Convection button activates a fan in the oven that circulates the air and helps food cook evenly and faster. Now that I am getting the hang of using the Convection setting, I find myself using it a lot. It’s nice to be able to get in and out of the kitchen in less time.

The Maytag Gas Range makes cooking and baking easier and more convenient for me. It’s less like work, and more of something I like to do everyday. I may not be a natural born cook, but it can be fun to try!

I have always used Maytag washers and know how dependable they are. I like cooking with gas I think it is easier to control. I need a new range and will give this one a lot of consideration
