How cool is it to be able to make soda at home anytime you want it? Let me tell you: It’s very cool! We received the SodaStream Genesis Soda Starter Kit and didn’t waste any time setting it up and starting our very own soda factory in the kitchen. My kids could hardly believe their eyes as they watched their mom making soda! They had no idea such a thing was even possible! And I must admit, it was totally fun for me, too.
How does the SodaStream make soda?
It’s really easy! All you have to do is fill a SodaStream bottle with ordinary tap water, screw it onto the soda maker and push a little button that adds carbonation to the water. The machine lets you know (it buzzes) when the carbonated water bottle is ready for you to detach and add your choice of flavor. And there you have it – soda made at home in less than 30 seconds. No electricity and no clean-up necessary.
What you get in the SodaStream Genesis Soda Starter Kit ($119.95):
The Starter Kit includes everything you need to make great soda at home – the Genesis Soda Maker, 1 sixty liter Carbonator, 2 Carbonator bottles, 3 SodaMix bottles (your choice of flavors), and the SodaMix variety pack (12 flavors).
Tons of SodaStream Flavor Options – Sodas, Sparkling Waters, Teas and more!
There are more than 50 different flavor options that include traditional soda favorites like Cola, Root Beer and Lemon Lime. But there is so much more than that – you can also make a variety of Diet Flavors, Energy Drink, MyWater, Sparkling Naturals, Sparkling Water and Sparkling Tea. You will not get bored with a huge selection like this…trust me, we’re making our way through the SodaMix Variety Pack and finding new favorites every day! I really like that the Sparkling Naturals give an all-natural soda option. The Sparkling Naturals have no artificial flavors, no artificial colors and no artificial sweeteners, and do not contain any preservatives, making them a perfect, sparkling, natural soda alternative for the entire family.
Save Money and Save the Environment with SodaStream
I’ve learned that making things at home “from scratch” can help me save money. Using a SodaStream soda maker to make your own soda is a great way to save money on soda. It costs about 25 cents per can of soda and 25 cents per liter of sparkling water. That is a huge savings over store bought soda! Making your own soda also reduces your carbon footprint because you won’t be buying all of those plastic soda bottles anymore. This means less is plastic manufactured, less plastic waste is created, and fewer bottled beverages must be transported from manufacturers to distributors to stores to homes.
Just for pricing reference: One bottle of Sodamix ($9.99) makes 33 cans of soda and One Reusable Carbonating Bottle ($14.99) makes 60 liters of sparkling water.
Here is my very first finished soda product – Root Beer (the kids’ favorite kind of soda):
The kids chose Root Beer as our first soda flavor. It turned out to be a helpful first choice because it showed me another great thing about making your own soda with a SodaStream: You have control over the flavor and can make the soda taste exactly how you want it. We ended up liking the Root Beer flavor best when we used about twice the recommended amount of flavor. So far, that is the only flavor we have found that we thought needed to be stronger for our taste buds. I’ve been pleasantly surprised to find that the soda flavors have all been pretty good, even if they weren’t my favorite. The Dr. Pete comes pretty close in taste to the name brand version found in stores.
I love being able to make whatever kind of soda I want, anytime I want to make it. It’s so very simple to do and the SodaStream Genesis takes up a very minimal amount of space in the kitchen – I hardly know it is there on the counter. My family is looking forward to many more soda-making sessions as we make our way through all the flavors SodaStream has to offer.
SodaStream soda makers are a great gift idea (for yourself or someone else)!
