Animal Planet Animal Bites Books For Kids
Although recommended age is listed as ages 4 to 8 years, I think these books can be enjoyed by kids of all ages. Everyone will be captivated by the colorful and exciting photography. Older children and advanced young readers will be able to read the books on their own. Each book is packed with pictures and factual information all about the animals and the environments they live in. My kids love learning the interesting and strange but true facts about animals.
Each book contains more than 200 photographs, simple graphics, and maps that bring the world of polar and ocean animals alive for young readers. These books are the kind of books kids can pick up and read again and again. There’s so much inside that it will most likely take more than one sitting to read it cover to cover.
Animal Bites Polar Animals includes land and sea animals from the North Pole and the South Pole. Kids learn all about animals including polar bears, seals, penguins, Siberian Huskies and so much more. You’ll see photos of the Earth’s most extreme places and find out how animals survive in those locations.
Fun facts from this book: A polar bear can smell a seal up to twenty miles away. The arctic hare changes from grey to white to blend in with her surroundings.
Young children who love animals will be fascinated by these fun facts and more. The Animal Bites series provides an easy-to-understand guide to the animal world so kids can explore animal bodies, baby animals, playtime, and more.
The book ends with Polar Activity ideas and Resource pages with listings of places to visit, books and websites so that children can learn more about Polar animals. Zoos listed in the US and Canada where children can see real live Polar animals. There is also a glossary and alphabetical index for easy reference.
Animals Bites Ocean Animals introduces children to what goes on in the underwater world. They take a deep dive into the ocean and see photos of marine creatures from all of the world’s oceans.

Something that stood out to me about the books is that each one includes “Just Like Me” boxes to teach children some of the ways the animals are just like us! My kids love making the connection between themselves and different kinds of animals. They feel more connected to the natural world when they know these similarities. It will hopefully help them learn to care more deeply for the animals and the planet.
The Animal Planet Animal Bites series also includes books about Farm Animals and Wild Animals.
