Does your family have a Travel Bucket List? Mine does! My husband and I have been road tripping together since we started dating 15 years ago. Our first major road trip was driving the Alaska Highway. We have been going ever since.
Now that we have added four children to the mix, we try to find the best vacation spots for families.
No matter when and where you travel, you will always need a place to stay. Your family can enjoy superior hospitality at hotels that are part of the IHG® global network (Crowne Plaza Hotels and Resorts, Holiday Inn, Holiday Inn Express, Candlewood Suites, and others.) Not only will you have a fantastic stay, but you will earn reward points in the IHG Rewards Club program.

Whether you decide to drive or fly, here are 7 of the best vacation spots and family-friendly cities you should add to your travel bucket list. The list below includes a few of my favorite family vacation ideas. Several of these cities just happen to be some of the top IHG hotel destination cities as well.
Niagara Falls, New York Niagara Falls State Park is America’s oldest state park. No matter what time of year you go, you will be amazed by the spectacular scenic views and the main attraction: waterfalls. You can get closer to the falls here than anywhere else, and there are many family-friendly attractions and exhibits in the area..
Washington, DC The key to D.C.’s family appeal is the National Mall, which is surrounded by free, kid-friendly museums and renowned monuments. One of the top family attractions we want to visit is Smithsonian’s National Air and Space Museum.
San Diego, California San Diego has awesome weather year-round. There are seemingly endless things for families to do here. Sunny beaches, amusement parks, the San Diego Zoo, the list goes on and on.
San Francisco, California San Francisco is home to some excellent family-friendly attractions like Fisherman’s Wharf, Alcatraz and the Golden Gate Bridge.. The city is also close to great outdoor areas, including Yosemite National Park and Muir Woods.
Yellowstone National Park in Wyoming, Montana and Idaho Every family should visit Yellowstone National Park at least once. Yellowstone is home to Old Faithful, a must-see natural wonder. Yosemite is also teeming with wildlife including bears, bison and wolves. You are extremely likely to see animals right from the park’s road system. Kids will also love watching the geysers and bubbling mud pots.
Zion National Park in Utah The red sandstone formations makes Utah’s Zion National Park one of the most unique spots in the entire world. Take a drive through the park and be sure to stop for at least one of the family-friendly hiking trails. Junior ranger programs are available for kids to learn more about the national park.
Orlando, Florida Orlando is one of the most family-friendly cities in the USA. This is home to world-famous theme parks including Universal Studios and Disney World. You will have no problem keeping everyone in the family entertained in Orlando.
